Just about 20 kms from Kathmandu lies a UNESCO World Heritage site, Bhaktapur. This ancient city gives a glimse of what a royal Nepalese city looked like several hundred years ago. Bhaktapur is among the three ancient cities of Kathmandu Valley. The other two are Kathmandu, the capital city, and Lalitpur or Patan.

Walking around Bhaktapur, I can feel the history. The word 'Bhaktapur' itself translates to 'The City of Devotees', reflecting its strong ties to Hinduism and Bhuddism. I could feel the unique styles of arts and woodcarving around the area.

Nepal has its own charms. I know a lot of friends who come here for trekking in the Himalayas, but it is also very fascinating to learn about Napalese history, arts and cultures as well.

Hope you enjoyed this trip with me in Bhaktapur. Stay tuned for the next episode. Please subscribe.
