I was there in July with my fiancé and walked those same paths. Some of the most spectacular views I’ve ever seen. Just beautiful.

The official name of the island is Thera, Greeks call it Thera and on all the Greek maps it says THERA - OFFICIALLY RESTORED in 1821.

During the Second World War, Santorini was occupied in 1941 by Italian forces and they deported most of the Greek population and changed the name back from Thera to Santorini. ITALIANS DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS.

Over 7, 000 Italians settled the island - sent by Mussolini to colonize and afterwards they comprised of almost 80% of the population.

Fun facts over 1250 churches are on the island which is roughly one church for every 12-15 people.

The OFFICIAL NAME OF THE ISLAND IS THERA
