That Aelius gold quinarius is just amazing, even if super-expensive, its value does not even reflects its rarity

A very rare denomination that I recall hearing of was a 5 aureus piece of Augustus that was discovered in Pompei placed in a museum and then stolen. Apparently the only known example.

I never knew about that tiny denomination. More fascinating insights. Once again, truly beautiful gold coinage. I marvel how ancient engravers achieved such impressive detail without lenses to work with. I'm guessing they'd somehow used water as a primitive refractor to enlarge details. It would make a superb episode to show how on earth they'd accomplished it.

Great Video again. I also think that a Video about the late System of constantius ii and constans with maiorina and so on would be very interesting

I giggled every time you said "asses"

A really cool denomination is the roman republican cast “decussis” it is a giant coin and at the time was worth 10 asses, so like a denarius (however the decussis were cast 1-3 years before the denarius).

Please explain the denominations of biblical times!! What is a shekel of tyros? What is the exchange for denarius? What is the value of a pontius pilate prutah? What are other hebrew denominations besides the shekel?
