You can also use the crimpers to round out the cable before opening the end with a finishing nail when using the Park tool.

I have and love my Shimano Cable cutter I have had it since the 1980's and it is a great tool

I have had the Park tool for about 25 years and still going strong.

Thanks Tony for running this channel, extremely useful and your "no nonsense" way of explaining stuff is absolutely brilliant. Will be coming back to your vids soon again :)

For a one time job and not as good but probably the cheapest option is a small bolt cutter. You do need to open the ends of the housing after using that though. Cuts cables also.

Thanks Tony. I have the Park cutter but it always squishes my Shimano BC-9000 housing completely closed and I have to take off the end with my bench grinder to be able to get my pointed tool in the end to free it up enough for smooth cable travel (same with my old school Campy brake housings). The Ice Tools looks interesting but not for twenty bucks more than the Parks on Amazon right now 🙄

Nice trick with the Park cable cutters.

Looked good using the different cable cutter tools the crimping i prefer using a separate crimper on the end of the tool

Looks like a Ti frame. Good tools make the job much easier and last way longer than the cheap stuff. Park do indeed make nice tools. Same goes for Campy.

i have never tried it, but i have heard that a dremel tool with a cut off wheel works really good too.

Using an ultra-high-tech tool for opening the cable housing was brilliant. now to find just the right finishing nail....

So I googled, and several ebay links came up. Not one had the cable cutter hole that you cut the cable with. Just a beware for all those looking for some look out for counterfeits.

Just bought a Felco C7 cable cutter only used it a couple of times, seem to give a clean cut okay about the same as the Park cable cutter

I have owned both the Park and Felco cable cutters, the Park cutters dulled quickly, no amount of adjustment resulted in a clean cable end. The Felco C7 is Swiss made, far superior to the Made in China, Park cutters. I threw my Park cutters in the recycle bin, they are inferior, soft jawed, only good for crimping and frustration. The Felco cutters cost more, they are well worth the expense.

IceToolz rocks! I prefer IceToolz over Park Tool

The ice tools hole will take extra time when cutting off a lot of cable, as with small bikes. You did not demo cutting cable with the Park, only housing. Nor did you comment on cutting cable (not spokes) with the side notches on the Ice.

Why have a separate cable cutter on the IceToolz?
