When I graduated highschool, my dad looked so smug or upset (?) at the ceremony . I was so excited and proud of myself. But the first thing he told me after a silent walk to the car was “I hope you’re ready to get a job now.” I wasn’t celebrated or given a congratulations ever. On anything I ever did or accomplished. I didn’t /need/ it but it often discouraged me . Parents need to realize the impact they have o. Thier children

I'll be honest, I never watched "Win or Lose", but I LOVE how Kai is litteraly floating in excitement, however when her dad starts critisizing her(even if he means well) she's getting back to the ground. It looks and feels so relatable when you're excited about your achievements but your entire mood gets ruined by your loved one's "Cool, but you made this mistake, don't do it again, you can do better than that"

The way the light and color instantly fades when her dad brings up her mistakes and NOT her win hurt my heart 😢

The truth is... in the end, I just couldn't empathize with Kay's father... everything he did was too annoying, too perfectionist and too self-centered... Even at the end when he talks to Kay and then in the resolution... I couldn't bring myself to empathize with him.

The beginning is the single most relatable thing ever. I would feel so proud for getting good grades and dad is like “it sure is a shame you got an 89. You didn’t try hard enough.” And then I just like 😃👉🏾😕

bruh, kai is so me.
usually, when i achieve something i get really happy and then i tell this to my parents, and they are like "yeah congrats, but anyways you miss this and this" and it feels like something's missing, awful.

The fact that he starts criticizing her and pointing out her mistakes, instead of congratulating her on the catch, shows that if he starts coaching the entire team, the entire team will suffer because of the endless criticism without even a “good job.”

It’s kind of sad because it feels like she doesn’t want her dad on the team, but she doesn’t want to tell him because that would make him feel bad😢

I remember when i got my exam results from my last year in high school. I worked hard and got higher than I ever achieved before. I went to show my oldest sister who I looked up to, so excited to tell her - and she just glanced unimpressed and said “youll have to try harder in university” and left. I haven’t shared any news with her since.

Parents who take their kid’s win as their own & don’t celebrate their Children or are proud for their accomplishments & achievements are Toxic Parents

why is this literally my dad bro like i do better than 98 percent of people in an exam and this is how he reacts. not even congratulating me after getting a good score on an important exam. actually pisses me off so bad

Parents that can't acknowledge their childrens successes without trying to bring them down need therapy.

This was my dad whenever I got a good grade. He never really said “good job!”

He would just say “Make sure it stays all A’s….”
