Carles- just wanted to say thank you! Excellent solo transcription on this and Black Orpheus..we have used multiple times(myself) live and the arrangement is perfect! Keep the Brubeck/Desmond tunes coming! For thise of us who can play it but aren’t the greatest at transcription, it is VERY appreciated to have the solos on tap to nail down at tempo. All the best from Northern CAL🤙

What a great transcription. You did a very good job. I heard him in concert (Australia in 1964). It was one of those nights you never forget. He could play a phrase that was more Musical than the 100 mph technical guys . (Miles Davis is also a favorite). Well done. Thank you.

Nice to see someone caring enough for Paul Desmond's iconic tune to to this transcription. However, it looks like you've got the chord progression for the bridge wrong. Please listen again, and you'll see. The bass plays the root throughout each bar, while the piano sometimes indicates more movement (my interpretation below). Dave Brubeck comps very sparingly and almost "classical" in the sense that he mostly just plays the basic triads, but for the sake of jazz notation, I've added the sevenths.

Abmaj7 - Gm7 (Cm7) - Fm7 (Bb7) - Ebmaj7 (Ebmaj7/G) - Abmaj7 - Gm7 (Cm7) - Fm7 (Bb7) - Dm7(b5) G7(b9).

Also, Paul Desmond's solo is entirely on the riff (Cm7 Gm7), it does not move into the bridge at bar 45 as indicated in this transcription.

Got to play this with our best pianist, drummer and bassist when I was a high schooler. I got to transcribe Paul’s Original solo because my Director was all about authenticity. Not the hardest solo section but it just fits so perfect that you really don’t need to tweak it at all

Why is it that everything is written a minor 3rd below compared to what sounds in the song?

Hey man! Nice job. Was just wondering! what’s the thinking around bar 45 onwards regarding the chords you’ve written in? The piano and bass don’t sound like they’ve changed what they’ve been vamping and the melody doesn’t imply the altered chords written in. Desmond is basically noodling in Gm pentatonic (with the occasional added 6th overlapping with Cm pentatonic) isn’t he?

why are there some notes with an X and what does it mean?

Nice job! Small mistake at 49 bar- last C and D is actually Bb and C IMHO

the sixteenth notes in the motif/melody are wrong, it should be triplets
