Moin, Reinhard Mey is the uncrowned king of german singer songwriters. A real artist of the german language, a poet, a real bard.
His songs are serious, romantic, sarcastic, political, timeless and often funny. A real great ambassador of german culture.

The golden earring did serve another purpose: If they did something unworthy for their trade, the ring was ripped from their ear, ripping open the earlobe. That is where the German term "Schlitzohr" (slitted ear) originates from. You could see from far there was coming someone that might better not be trusted.

Reinhard Mey has actually been on stage since 1964. His work is funny, as well as profound. Songs like "Musicians are in town", "The hot battle at the cold buffet", or "Diplomat hunt" show his ironic streak, even to the more mocking moments. The heavier fare is then pieces like "Dust dump of time", "Abominable song for abominable people", or "Come, pour my glass again"... He wrote many of these songs in the 60s and 70s...

There is the same tradition in France, les Compagnons du devoir or les Compagnons du Tour de France. They have links with the others from Europe. It's them who rebuilt, renovated Notre-Dame !

Work clothes:
There was once a documentary about the clothing workshop in Hamburg Georgswerder on the Veddel (Seevetal). Some craftsmen from the USA even buy their clothing there. The report came about because the "Veddelhose" (bootcut jeans) were invented there in the 1970s.
The jeans are the same style as craftsmen's trousers without the button strips, but with a zipper.
It is one of the few companies in Germany that still sews and alters itself.
Unfortunately, the owner of the company died suddenly and the company has a new owner who also produces custom clothing.
