Nope, the video was all done in reverse. He had to learn how to sing the song backwards, phonetically. And Lex is pretty spot on about the character wanting to go back to the beginning of a failed relationship.

True story, My cousins husband directed the video for this song. His name is Jamie Thraves, it won best video at the MTV music awards in New York, Jamie was at Madonna's after show party when he was approached by Justin Timberlake and was asked by him to direct his next music video and to name his price, Jamie said no thanks, Timberlake said why? He said 'because I don't like your music'. And that is true story.

Fun Fact: Chris Martin had to practice singing the song backwards for months so that when they played the footage in reverse, he would appear to be singing the words correctly. Insanely challenging and such dedication for 1 music video.

Coldplay gets a lot of shit.. they warmed this metalhead angry boy's heart on those first two albums. Even got to meet him and his autograph on that first US tour.. before they conquered the world.

Coldplay's first two albums ("Parachutes" and "A Rush of Blood to the Head") are fantastic, in my opinion. If you want to react to a deep track that is just beautiful, try "Amsterdam" (actually the final track on "A Rush of Blood to the Head")...

Sometimes for me, certain songs become infinitely better simply because of a moment in a movie I heard it in. This is one of them. Great song overall, but it becomes a fantastic song to me when I heard it play at the end of Wicker Park. The entire build up of this song, built right up to the final scene. Excellent placement.
