Good video and glad I watched it as I was in two minds between this and a C5. Two different cars, I know. The C6 is a Lovely car, but these costs would put me off, even though I do most work on my cars. That's money I can't afford to spend a the moment.
You'll have a great car once all those jobs are finished!

I had BX 16 TRS years ago it was always going wrong, I love the look of Citroën but not the cost of running them.
Still lovely looking car good luck with it.

Thanks for the video. I was trying to work out whether you were being deliberately pessimistic as that all up cost is very cheap, at least compared to the price of these cars down under. The cheapest C6 in Australia is $22k which is around 12, 400 gbp. The most expensive example is $45k! If I found one for sale locally for the equivalent of $5k aud I would buy it in a heartbeat!

3rd gear jerks when hot? Change Solenoid block, AM6 Gearbox is used by Volvo, Lancia, Peugeot ect.. get a "cheap" and new one takes 2h putting it in, got mine in the Netherlands.

Try some glass repair liquid for that broken window. It’s the same refractive index as the glass so may well be invisible.

I had a 56 Petrol, a press car, I think it had 60k miles & in great condition so I bought her for £8k, strangely we spent the same in a year, about £6k. Wish I hadn't have sold her, but I was totally restoring a CX Safari at the time & something had to go! I would have another, although I'm not a diesel fan, so not looking forward to that, as petrol's are nearly impossible to find. Hope you're still enjoying her & remember you got her for a song, so that should help the pain ;-).

I'm only up to about £2.5k on mine, but then I'm doing the work myself which I guess helps.

did you get the pressure sensors done when you refurbed the wheels? cause they're not cheap :)

I love the C6 but can’t justify the risk of it letting me down. Would rather have a CX and know that it will need welding and hydraulic pipes. No fancy electronics to throw a wobbler and (outside of a DS) achingly cool.

If you could tell us the mileage? It would help us make a judgement call when considering a used one, particularly regarding the transmission troubles. Design faults vs fair wear.

Wow thats pretty cheap even after all repairs for so cheap car id expect way more issues.
Hows suspension working? No issues therre? For such cheap car id expect major rebuilds in that department.

Perhaps I missed it although I watched twice but, no mention of car year nor millage, both would be useful. Interesting video as I am currently considering a C6.

My father bought a c 5 at the same time I had bought a Toyota Avalon ( Australian model ) in 2002 , whilst his Citroen had a nice ride and a few fancy extras he had nothing but trouble with his and these troubles always seem to cost around $1100 a visit from a specialist Citroen dealer . My Toyota at the same age had little go wrong and nothing I couldn’t fix eg, alternator
, in fact I’ve spent in the last 20 years less than $2000 in repairs whilst his has been junked years ago . Moral of story don’t ever buy a European car if you want a cheap reliable long lived car .

I used to own one. Great car truly awful reliability. Most seem to be GF number plates so are ex Citroen staff cars.

Re your transmission issues, as the problem shows up when 'pressing on' or when hot, just wondering if the ATF is getting too hot and thinning out? Maybe a larger ATF cooler would help?
