What’s the difference between Mordheim and Warhammer Skirmish, two similar fantasy skirmish games published by Games Workshop more than 20 years ago? And is either ruleset superior to the other? In this video, we share some thoughts.

Yep, I remember those early 2000's. Best GW days in my opinion. 6th ed Fantasy, 4th Ed 40K, Mordheim, BFG, 3E D&D, they took all my free moments. Our Sunday Morheim/BFG games are some of my fondest memories. Long live creative GW. Screw today's rigid competitive crap. Still revere my Generals Handbook.

I would be interested in GW revisiting Skirmish or Mordhiem once WH Old World releases.

Excellent video as always, well laid out and great graphics showing whatever you were talking about.. Also your hardcopy collection of warhammer stuff is amazing.

Im really enjoying the channel, skirmish is really helping me get some games in while not having a group to play with.

My group played a lot of Kill Team and started getting in Warcry. A lot of us didn't like the rules in Warcry so we were looking at what else would fit the fantasy niche that we were looking for. We looked at AoS Skirmish, WHFB skirmish, OPR, and settled on Mordheim. It's taken a few months to get teams and terrain made but we've been loving it. My one worry is the catch-up mechanic in Mordheim as it seems some teams win most of their games and are going to quickly outpace the other teams. I'm been trying to do some reasech on Reddit and the like but I haven't found much.

If you're looking for another fantasy skirmish to try, Anthems of War is a pretty good time

Warhammer 40k 4th edition rulebook has the OG killteam...Kinda like a dirty dozen scenario of one killteam vs brute squads and a boss with some objectives. Using units chosen from the desired codex, theres also campaign(crusade) and combat patrol. Its the best 40k rulebook prouduced in terms of hobby and game. For lore..id say the 6th edition.

I notice you have a mix of bases on your minis, it would be awesome to hear what you think is the best/easiest way to create a nice base and what basing materials/style has aged the best

6:04 it's more of a campaign heavy Skirmish TT wargame then a Light RPG as Light RPGs have much less count ofver much less pages which normally much less replayablity. Still I get what you mean and your right.

I got the Skirmish rules by searching online but the copies I found weren't complete. Seams to be the same corrupted file that got shared. It is usable though.
The online copies of Morheim are perfect!

Great comparison between both systems! Now, to be completely accurate, you don't really need the 2002 Skirmish supplement, the actual Skirmish rules are in the 6th Ed. rulebook, on the Appendix 3 (pg. 242). Heck, you don't even need the Ravening Hordes booklet, the rulebook itself includes a set of very basic army lists for 12 factions on pages 280-281, with point costs and everything, but with no special rules. Still enough to get your toes wet, I reckon 😊
