Picking locks in real life is easier than picking locks in KCD

The absolute worst part of this game... they learned nothing from the feedback on the first game on this mechanic.

For all my console players instead of using just your thumb, use your thumb, index, and middle finger. It’ll help keep the analog in place while you spin the lock. Hope this helps

Lock picking on console legit made me put that game down and vow never to go back. Undermines all the other good qualities I'm sure the game series has.

Its so annoying to raid bandit camps and find two or three chests locked and find out none of the bandits had a key. On console Henry has cerebral palsy when lock picking.

HUGE TIP FOR CONSOLE PLAYERS

Seriously this helped me so much. In my experience, the faster you try and pick the lock, the better. If you try and take too long and try to be perfect the whole time you simply cannot be perfect enough and it’ll break before you get halfway. By trying to speed thru it, I think you kind of end up hitting the gold spot and dragging it a huge distance.

I just picked my first lock after over 20 attempts. In the chest there was a bag of nails, soft shoes and fastening material. I'm a single dad of two. Life's too short for this tedious stuff and I know I'm not a great gamer as I have a life with responsibilities but I'm not 'that' bad. I'm finding myself more frustrated than exhilarated in seemingly more quantities with this 'game'. And I'm a history nerd.

Somehow they made this shitty mechanic even worse than in the first game. Unlocking even medium difficulty locks is a nightmare when the cursor jumps around all the time.

This is bullshit hard on controller. I mean seriously wtf were they thinking with this shitty design? Henry’s hands shake uncontrollably when you trying to do it it’s ridiculous and the picks break almost instantly even on easy

Edit to my below comment: I have found that the lockpicking in kcd2 is so much better than in kcd1. It still kinda sucks but it actually works. I was a little harsh in my below comment but I’m leaving it here for posterity lol


There’s no excuse for why lockpicking sucks bad in this series. Say ‘git gud’ all you want, but on a controller it’s an absolute trainwreck of a mechanic and doesn’t respect the players irl time one bit.

Lockpicking is basically broken on the PS5 because you have to move the pick in a tight circle but the controller deadzone only lets you move it in a square shape.

Wish they would of reworked the system entirely, it's too easy on M&K and one of the most difficult things ever created on console.

On PS5, it's near impossible. On easy pressing down L2 turns the lock so fast/sensitive is insane. I hope they fix it. I love the game otherwise, but I don't plan on lockpicking at all.
