Love hearing that it's one of your favorite games. Luke said that as well & I already gave the Henry statue a permanent spot in my studio.

Neon, I just want to thank you; I'd bounced off KCD some years ago (not on release, but later.) I just couldn't get the hang of the combat. But your phrasing of "this isn't a game where you have to train a little to get good, it's a game where you have to train A LOT to get COMPETENT" inspired me to give it another go.

As soon as I started approaching everything as "what would YOU, a person with zero skills, do in this situation?" I was able to make progress & eventually excell and fall in love with the world and the game.

I'm going dark on KCD2 coverage until I'm done with my first playthrough, but I wanted to tell you that it wouldn't have been possible without you.

I loved that sheep conversation clip. Thanks for that

I love the way the ragdolls look. A simple change but it makes the combat look way better.

The best review that i have come across. Loved that it wasnt 40+ minutes long. Just the right length covering everything.

Funfact the kuttenberg cathedral (which is a cathedral from an architectural staindpoint but only a church from a religious one) is still technically speaking under construction.

When I played KCD I just remember realizing how starved I'd been for an actually solid 'open world' game that didn't follow the typical of formula of giving you all this freedom but no reason to explore because of how dead and lifeless everything around you is. These games have always been a labor of love and despite some flaws, there's truly nothing else like them. I cannot wait.

That said, I was afraid they'd make the combat in this game a little too easy to appeal to the more casual players. Part of why I loved the first game was just how punishing it was, especially in the early game, and it's sad to see that while they may have made it a little more smooth and polished, you get to a point where it's kind of trivialized.

I'm an old gamer. I kind of stumbled across KCD 1. I had no idea what I was actually getting. But after downloading it, starting it, and getting my @ss handed to me over, and over again, I finally decided to do a little research on the game. Yep! The game was designed to ensure that you KNEW that you were a complete noob and had zero skill. After I was informed of that, the game became one of my all-time favorites. I can't say how many hours I played just in the practice ring alone. I am setting aside some serious time for KCD 2, and am actually reluctant to start, because I know that I will blow through it and the anticipation, and experience will be over. Weird, right?

Seeing how you do combat, makes me feel like a toddler learning to crawl...

I have about 40 hours in KCD2, half of those are playing dice…

Was on the fence before but your review has eased my worries and now I’m on board. Ordered a copy and waiting for it to ship, which gives me time to finish up the first game.

Something I’d appreciate is NPCs reacting to you lighting a gun in their face and try to dodge or dive out of the way or something. Seeing guys just step toward you casually while you’re priming up the death beam is a slight but still a bit immersion breaking thing

Never paid more than 20 bucks for a game before but i'm really close to break that rule to do some naughty shit in this.

NO hunting quests?!?! I mean… I get it. At its core, it’s a fetch quest but it was also a skill check. Finding and successfully killing 10 rabbits was fun.

The fact that the game fully utilises British humour kinda similar to how fable did is also a plus and makes a lot of the side quests more fun and the cutscenes actually worth watching

It kind of sounds like they took the neat side quests being important thing from Witcher 3 ! this is a wonderful thing to hear! KCD1 was already very immersive, kcd2 sounds great.
