Darwin, I am planning a 3 day R2R2R in late March, early April of 2019 and wanted your impressions of the first 3 or so miles of the North Kaibob trail. Because of the time of year, I will encounter snow and ice and wanted to hear from you on how wide the trail was and if there were any sections I should pay particular attention to. For example, at 2:40 in the video, the trail is narrow and has what could be a very slippery down slope right next to it. Even with crampons and trekking poles, the potential for a 1000' drop is very real and very likely a life ending incident which I would like to avoid.

I enjoyed seeing this. Reminds me of my own trek along the Bright Angel and Kaibob trails some years ago. I had just come off the AT, but still got worked by the long hike out at altitude! Thanks, Darwin!

Thanks for sharing. I was out there in early August and did some hiking around the rim on the south side. Absolutely gorgeous area. I'll have to go back and do the bright angel trail. Just didn't have time.

I was just at the Grand Canyon this past weekend.  It was absolutely Majestic.  No photos or videos a person could watch could ever capture the true beauty and grandeur of that place.  We were at the south rim and stayed in Tusayan.  I want to hike rim to rim so bad but I do not think I can do it in a day.  Was there anywhere to camp at the bottom?

Darwin, what time of year did you do this hike? I just did the hike last Fri, 05/17/19, ton of people on the trail. Epic, indescribable, painful, incredible all in one day.

Great video thanks for all of your time and effort, this one is on the bucket list. Is there a reason you started your hike so late in the day? Thinking maybe to avoid the heat or was it just a late start. For those of you who have never been to the Grand its a truly special place. It has been my experience that there can be a very large amount of people on the top but it really thins out on the trail. I have been there a few times, just love it.

Amazing. I did the Bright Angel Trail (with small kids) only down to Indian Garden and back up but even that was spectacular! Cameras don't do justice to the beauty of the Canyon. If you get a chance, check out (touristy) Antelope Canyon in Page, AZ! Beautiful slot canyon!

Thanks for the great video. Brought back great memories of me and 3 of my running buddies. Back in 2015 we did a rim to rim to rim run (well run/hike) in one day. Took us about 18ish hours. But worth it for the memories.
