Divide using fact families

In this lesson you will learn how to divide fluently by using fact families.

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS

STANDARDS

CCSS.3.OA.C.7 Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.

TEKS.3.4.F recall facts to multiply up to 10 by 10 with automaticity and recall the corresponding division facts;

TEKS.3.4.G use strategies and algorithms, including the standard algorithm, to multiply a two-digit number by a one-digit number. Strategies may include mental math, partial products, and the commutative, associative, and distributive properties;

TEKS.3.4.J determine a quotient using the relationship between multiplication and division; and

IN.4.C.4 Multiply fluently within 100.

IN.3.C.6 Demonstrate fluency with multiplication facts and corresponding division facts of 0 to 10.

IN.3.C.5 Multiply and divide within 100 using strategies, such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 x 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8), or properties of operations.

VA.CE.3.4.a represent multiplication and division through 10 × 10, using a variety of approaches and models;

VA.CE.4.4.a demonstrate fluency with multiplication facts through 12 x 12, and the corresponding division facts;

VA.CE.3.4.c demonstrate fluency with multiplication facts of 0, 1, 2, 5, and 10; and

VA.CE.4.4.b estimate and determine sums, differences, and products of whole numbers;

FL.MAFS.3.OA.3.7 Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
