“Engaging The FrontLines With Proper “PPE”

Показать описание
Let’s remind our president about Personal protective equipment, or PPE, as defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration “OSHA”, which is the specialized clothing or equipment, worn by all medical staff including us nurses from protection against the infectious COVID-19.
.
These regulations require use of PPE in all healthcare settings to protect healthcare personnel from exposure to COVID-19.
However, OSHA, FEMA and Public Health know that we are supposed to utilize appropriate PPE and ensure that PPE is disposed after use.
.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issues recommendations for when PPE should be used to prevent exposure to infectious diseases like COVID-19.
.
It is important to recognize that your safety as Registered Nurses and all healthcare workers are involved in the proper prevention of COVID-19 which helps protect our healthcare staff.
.
All of the PPE listed here prevent contact with the infectious agent, or body fluid that may contain the infectious agent, by creating a barrier between the worker and the infectious disease.
Gloves, protect the hands, gowns or aprons protect the skin and/or clothing, masks and respirators protect the mouth and nose, goggles protect the eyes, and face shields protect the entire face.
.
• Gloves – protect hands • Gowns/aprons – protect skin and/or clothing • Masks and respirators– protect mouth/nose – Respirators – protect respiratory tract from airborne infectious agents• Goggles – protect eyes• Face shields – protect face, mouth, nose, and eyes.
.
Our struggle as Registered Nurses and all medical staff in this healthcare field may well preview what medical providers in other states could face which may be a national shortage of personal protective equipment, or PPE. The increasing sense of frustration and powerlessness many nurses and other medical workers may feel as COVID-19 increases in our health care system.
.
🙏🏽I pray for our president as we speak.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16.
