Bach Prelude and Fugue No.14 Well Tempered Clavier, Book 1 with Harmonic Pedal

In this recording I used the 4th harmonic pedal in resonance position only. The harmonic pedal was invented by Denis de La Rochefordière.

The sheet music featured in this video is in the public domain and differs occasionally from my Tovey & Samuel edition, which I used in this recording, published by the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, which isn’t.

Das beste Tutorial für das " Wohltemperierte Klavier", das ich bisher auf Youtube gesehen habe.

Bravo, Paul!
Excellent control and confidence over the Prelude. Enjoyed the pace and the dynamics of Fugue.
Another welcomed and refreshing interpretation.
Cheers!

Hello My friend Paul Barton, I'm a big fan of your work, I learn a lot with your tutorials, I live in Brazil, and I would like to see you play a composition by a Brazilian pianist, for example. (Ernesto Nazareth - Odeon), and thank you for your videos.

There are two things that are very hard to compose with any success. The first is two-part counterpoint and the other is a fugue that doesn't sound mechanical or contrived. Bach does both so well I am tempted to warn: Do not try this at home!

Sometimes Paul sustains notes as written, but other times he just doesn't bother.

m 35-36 are so expressive, tender and cosmic.

I think what would be very helpful is actually you doing a recording of a piece you haven't seen before and practicing it/learning it.

Mistake(?) at 0:29 measure 9, right hand, 4th is a C sharp yet you played a D sharp.

This prelude reminds me to Chopin's Torrent Etude, maybe a little inspiration for Chopin's music :p
