I remember when my dad would always gaslight me as lying whenever I told him I was being bullied by kids or a teacher would make up a lie about me. He would guilt trip me and gaslight me with this whole story and it has traumatized me a lot. He was the reason why I never stood up for myself or even told him something going on that was bothering me because I was always a liar to him. He never stood up for me and then is confused on why I never talk to him.

As a 54, undiagnosed autistic person. Recently self diagnosed. Diagnosis appointment scheduled. I’ve been thinking about this specific fable for a while.
I’ve come to look at from Jacks point of view.
He wouldn’t just call for help for no reason. Over and over and over again. The villagers saw no problem. And then when he needed help no one came.
Each time he had an autistic meltdown and “cried for help” he learned to mask his autism traits so no one took it seriously. Meh. That’s our boy Jack.
Then when it became too much and the wolf, (the culmination of too many meltdowns) actually did come and no one came. The boy had no choice but to give in. Give up. He had a full Burnout!! The moral is: Parents, pay attention to your kids!!! If they are screaming for help, there is probably a very good reason for it!!

There were actually 4 sheep left. It’s even shown. It was just an error made by the author that there were none.
