EPISODE 179

In this episode we start turning on systems in the boat - starting with the diesel-heating system. We also turn on the fridge and freezer, and the galley lighting! Nic fits handles and locks in the doors, Patty cuts another hole in the deck, and Leo fits a large monitor in the Nav station.

His name is Leo. He is a boat builder and a sailor. And we love him.

First few seconds had me bamboozled but then i realized it was Leo, and that he is a boatbuilder and a sailor and bought this 101 year old wooden sailing boat for the price of $1.

It's fun to see Leo so enthusiastic on camera.

Leo, cheap fuel fill tip: soak the wood decking around the deck fill completely with water before you start fueling. The water is heavier than diesel and it fills the pores completely before fuel splatters might be landing. The diesel floats and is wiped up easily without residue discoloration of your wood deck.

This works on powerboats too.

There is no compromise ANYWHERE on this boat. The deck is so well crafted that it almost looks artificial. I've never seen a project done to this level of perfection. Be proud!

Leo, when you turned On the undercabinet lighting the varnished wood in the galley may have been the most beautiful things my eyes have ever seen . Stunning simply stunning .

I was listening... when Leo said that monitor mounted on the bulkhead would enable him to continue making videos. That was music to my ears. I know I'm not the only person who wants this adventure to continue as Tally Ho launches and begins its journey around the world. What a stunning boat this is... all the product of Leo's vision, the talents of so many people, and the many folks who contribute to this effort. Beautiful!

I dont know when I have seen Leo so happy/excited/pleased with the way it is coming together. A person buys all that high powered equipment and you are told how it should perform but there is nothing like the thrill of actually seeing it working.

Keep the freezer in the counter that way the cold is gonna stay down when you open it from the top. Keep the drawer as a fridge… you gonna loose some cold but in the end it will have to work less than to be a freezer 👍🏻✌🏻🇨🇦

@SampsonBoatCo I am rewatching the old videos and they are even better the second time around. Thank you.

We are old power boater (since 1967) with a little sailing experience The First Mate says that because you can/will use the top of the frig as work space the freezer should be there where you will not need access as much.

I don't think I have seen you quite so thrilled and excited in any episode before, Leo. It's almost as if the boat is coming to life.

I have been watching you from the very first video, wow ! It’s been a journey, but what I have to say is I never seen such beautiful workmanship on wood, from the butterfly, hatches handrails and that beautiful furniture and woodwork on the interior, this boat I think will be seen by many people throughout time in magazines, special videos and the sailing world. This boat will be a beautiful home for Leo and a true example of perfection in wood boats !

It's nice to see Leo getting excited and genuinely happy, rather than perpetually stressed.

From the Steve Cross sawmill to a refrigerator and charts light. Quite a Journey! 👍

When the horizontally sliding fridge/freezer is pulled out, all the cold spills away. Inconvenient if that's the fridge, but a significant power drain if that's the freezer. But opening the top and reaching down is a perfect design for a freezer.

Seeing Leo so excited was like a throwback to when the project first started! I totally understand how that cycle goes, and it’s awesome to see how close she is to getting wet!

I'm not sure exactly why, but this video was especially fun. Maybe because it feels more off-the-cuff? Love the boat, love the crew, love the videos.
