Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow was originally set to direct the conclusion to Disney’s Star Wars trilogy, and it was J.J. Abrams who decided that the character should return when he took over directorial duties. Trevorrow has praised Abrams for bringing the character back, as it helps tie the trilogy together and connect it to the previous films.

Jar Jar Stinks had no plan and grabbed up Palpatine as a last ditch effort at nostalgia. And now their scrambling to make some sense out of it and bracing for the train wreck that's coming. They should have used GL's ideas to make this final trilogy worth watching.
