I think that's a great idea if you already have a creative team in place. I do the writing and linework on my stuff, so I like to do a full script, get notes on that, and then start my artwork.

as a writer AND an artist... i never really thought about it, but i DO visualize the pages as I write. and Luckily all the writers I have done art for at least consider my suggestions of edits if they send me a full script and I notice places we can combine or alter stuff visually for the flow

Oh, I'm so glad to watch this!
In making comics, usually I draw the image I have in my mind before writing a script that can fit in it, and honestly I thought I was the only one doing it 😂❤

The writing processes for comics are extremely diverse due to comics being a less scrutinizes media in general. Different publishers may have different approaches but in general you are free to tackle the story any way you want it as long as your collaborators understand your work flow and the pages find their way to print on time

This motivated me to start my own comic just for fun, which I've been slacking on since last month

Man... I'm 14 and trying to write/draw my first comic, I recently found out about this channel and let me tell you, it helped me in way more ways than I could ever tell you. Thank you so much for your work and tips!

Yeah that makes way more sense. I think it's like starting a sewing project with the buttons and pockets. Like sure they're important but you haven't made the pattern or even cut the fabric yet? How do you know that you wont have to remove the buttons or that the pockets not going to be in the way and you'll feel sad cause you sewed it on really nice and you don't want to waste your hard work? Where are the sleeves?!

".. and send it to the artist you'll be collaborating with."

But

This is something I’ve been trying to figure out for my comic! Thank you!

I wrote my outline, used the script to describe the scenes so I can come back and do all the art stuff from the description

Honestly as the writer and illustrator, I just go for the script anyway. Idk why, but I struggle to keep a story outline from being too overly detailed, ao I might as well jump into the script. If I ever do work with another artist, I'd so try to go for this method though.

Im the artist I'm collaborating with 💀
So what's the difference between the story outline and the script? I'm assuming a need to have the entire story mapped out for either of them

but what if I'm the writer *AND* the artist? OTL how do you start the thumbnailing process? how do you tell when its well paced or when you need to change certain panels/pages?
