How to clean your paint gun

In this video we cover the process for cleaning a paint gun after using it. This process is the most thorough method that I have found for cleaning my guns and keeping them performing well. Remember that you should only use water to clean your paint gun if it is compatible with waterborne paint, otherwise the water will cause corrosion inside the gun.

Don't forget to ask your questions or submit video questions if you want to show me something.

Brad. Your videos have been priceless for me. I have went from knowing zero about HVLP guns to being pretty comfortable thanks to your videos. I have a question. I am spraying Acrylics through a 1.0 tip on a mini. The paint is a bear to clean up. I found this video and I am having trouble finding "Methanol". I am wondering if it goes by a different name. My research has found that denatured alcohol might be close, but some say it is as little as 10%, and others closer to 90%. Am I overthinking this? Is it readily available where you are at in pure form or whatever you are using? Thanks in advance and keep up the great videos.

Thank you for the good video. You have confirmed a lot of what I do. But there's one thing you forgot.
After removing the air cap and fluid tip take hold of the threaded outside section of the air baffle and slide it off the gun. Straight out. Now you can reach the rest of the gun. It's an air passage, but a little paint gets back to it.

Also take a look at The Gunman's cleaning video. In it he shows how to back pressure the gun with solvent to clear out residual paint.
Between Brad and The Gunman you will have the whole story.

Thanks for video. Question, can you still use solvents, mineral spirits and oil based cleaners for waterborne paints. Meaning will it make a difference cleaning the gun if only thing used is waterborne based paints?

Hey a fan of yours. So I have watched some videos of yours and I have A question for ya. Do you think I can paint my honda goldwing limited edition. With a airbrush. Piece by piece. And if so I'm wanting to paint it burnt orange. And if I put a little in the clear coat what would that do for me. And help would be great. Plus what would you recommend on a gun setup to by. Keep in mind I never used one before. Thanks Jay

I've tried cleaning out my paint gun after using polyurethane paint using acetone and methanol like you said in the video but I still can never get it completely clean even after I spend sometimes hours trying to scrape off all the paint. Using polyurethane has tore up several good guns I've bought and I was just wondering if there is anything you'd recommend because i just went through my 4th paint gun and it's starting to get a little disheartening.

Question???? What is better for cleaning out clear coat? Acetone or paint thinner? I've noticed residue in my gun after acetone.

This so funny you usually clean your gun with thinner or reducer and you do need a gun cleaning kit the stuff he just did was very minor.
