I CAN NOT EVER RECOMMEND JCB AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE

I bought two different pieces of equipment from JCB at the end of last year—the 407 Wheel Loader and the 3Ts 8T Teleskid. Both purchases have turned into big regrets, and I'll detail why in today's video.

I've had the exact opposite experience with JCB. I have 5 JCB machines, including two 3TS-8Ts. The only thing I would trade the teleskids for are 100hp teleskids. That said, my dealer is fantastic and that makes a huge difference. Sounds like your dealer is the primary reason for the bad experience, and that sucks.

I wont lie, seeing a person like you, with good business acumen and who has been in the industry for a while, struggle is a bit of a comfort. For one it gives me hope that there are still people out there who stand by their products and want to do right by their customers and for two I feel a bit less alone with my own struggles. I've returned two pieces of equipment so far and I'm stuck with one that I wish I hadn't picked up at all and gone to another brand. I worked in IT for years before getting into machinery related work and it's crazy how much it's a disorganized industry. No standards, lack of knowledge on their own machines, approximate details on attachment compatibility (GPMs reqs etc) and nonchalant attitude in getting things fixed right. That being said, I hope you figure out a good way out of it!

I worked for a manufacturer of industrial gas turbines. I had quite a few customers tell me that our engines weren't any better than our competitors. The reason they bought from us was the customer service. We have field districts worldwide and although I can only speak about ours in Salt Lake, we would "no charge" them for a service call quite often unless they were negligent. Actually, we sometimes "no charged" them when they were negligent because they realized they screwed up and we didn't put the screws to them. We also always answered the phone. When I commissioned a unit, the customer had my cell phone number and they would often just call me to see if I could help them over the phone instead of contacting the field office for a service call. And hey, look at that, they just ordered our equipment for their next expansion. When customers are spending millions of dollars on the purchase your your equipment, you want to keep them happy. Sure, there were times when a customer was belligerent and when reason didn't work, we treated them accordingly. (No turbines for you! One year. No turbines!) Customer service is the best advertisement. Good or bad.

Just looked up that wheel loader. What I found was a 7, 000 lb tipping load, but that is a load in the bucket with a load of maybe 2' from the loader arms at most. No way that thing is going to lift 6, 000 lbs at a 4' out center of gravity (8' long skid). It sounds like you weren't having a problem tipping though, sounds like the hydraulics just wouldn't lift it. Another thing to consider is these things are mainly designed for bucket use. The geometry is way different with a set of forks, especially picking a 8' long skid.
You'd be better off with a telehandler for that task.

It's a shame because all the people I know who have used or owned JCB equipment haven't had this experience. I'm shocked to hear this story as a result! I hope someone at JCB sees this video and works to better their customer service. Unacceptable for such a world acclaimed brand to be acting like this.
Edit: I live in the UK for reference. I don't think JCB NA would last in Europe!

It’s all about your dealership. I have two teleskids wheel and track, a 215 skid steer and the 427 loader. They are all great with some issues. My dealership takes great care of us and treat us well. The boom and side door make them the best skid steers on the market for plowing, moving snow and Hardscape. But yes the track teleskid does need a 100 hp engine.

An unfortunate situation. Wow. Your local JCB dealer sure sounds like a winner.

Not a fan of JCB because I’ve heard many stories like this. As far as minix I have a bobcat e42 with the extra 500lb weight. No complaints at all. It’s a beast.

As a British person I'm surprised you've had such problems with JCB the company. In the UK JCB is a very popular brand and while I personally have no experience with JCB I've heard of no serious complaints either. I can only suspect there is some big difference with how the American market is serviced.

Seeing this just makes me happier that I'm content with my old equipment that has zero computers.

I love your candor. I understand how difficult it is to keep the disappointment in check. Small businesses get shafted so bad and nobody gets to hear those stories. Keep your head up! Great content, keep up the awesome job!!

Bought a 409 loader from JCB a year ago, 0 hour machine. 800 hours on it currently, I use and abuse it on a daily basis for farm work and hay operation and have never experienced problems with it. Sorry to see your experience with them hasn’t been pleasant at all.

The sarcasm was top notch...lol. Thank you for informing everyone about how crappy JCB treated you and their junky equipment.

I love my JCB dealer never have I had the issues with it as you've had. I paid 67k in 2018 new. Used for ag uses and snow removal along with light construction. I've been very happy with it.😊

This is a fine example why it's important to demo machines before you buy them.

I know you're frustrated, but it says right in the JCB specs that the 407 loader is rated for a payload of only 3666 pounds. Even the larger 409 is only 4021 pounds. With an 8 foot length of pallet, 5 or 6000 pounds is totally unreasonable. That is a small machine. If it could lift it, I'm sure the back wheels would be off the ground. I think you would have been much better off with a used machine that is much larger. If JCB told you it would do the job, they were clearly wrong by their own specs.

It doesn't matter the brand, if you buy machines without local support you're much more likely to have a bad experience. Service is far more important than sales.

No one likes to get beat when you purchase a piece of equipment particularly when you are promised it would work!!

Just watched this video on TV and then made the effort to find it on the computer so I could write this. Your well deserved frustration was palpable. So sorry for all the issues these machines have caused. Praying that you can get this all worked out satisfactorily. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and so many others for all of us.
