I miss the smooth animation of Marge's hair as she whips her head around and realises that Maggie's in the paper bag. I also miss when the titles glowed.

I don't mind The Simpsons having HD animation. What I do mind is the fact that the animation has become stiff in the past several years.

0:27 24 frames were individually drawn of Marge turning her head in the 1991 version, opposed to the 5 drawn in the 2013 intro

I've always thought that the HD animation is too stiff and sterile, lifeless even. The old animation had some life and energy to it.

Here’s the problem; the old one has fluent and the animation is full of life, with Marge’a reaction too. On the other hand, the HD version just has a weak lifeless turn with no expression.

While the new one is definitely high quality and has a bit more effort put into backgrounds, the old is so much more full of life in the characters' movements. I think the full animation adds so much personality to the all characters. Seriously, Marge's reaction in the grocery store felt so much more alive in the old intro. The drawings were crude, but the movement was so graceful and almost felt like something out of the '40s.

That's just me though.

Everybody's talking about how Marge's current animation to noticing Maggie in the bag is so lazy, but does anyone else notice that Largo (the music teacher) just now simply points to the door to tell Lisa to leave without making the hand gestures first?

It's weird to see how the old intro is smoother and energic than the new one.

Stuff I LIKE about the new opening:
+ It's obviously more brightly coloured and consistent with the newer designs. The old opening got seriously outdated after season 10.
+ They've kept all the original scenes
+ They included Grandpa as an actual character in this, which is a nice touch I guess. I like how Marge beeps her horn to wake him up now.
+ I liked Hans Moleman's manhole addition.

Stuff I DISLIKE about the new opening
- The animation is dull and lifeless
- There's waaaayyy too much shit going on. Too much fanservice and ''HEY REMEMBER THIS SCENE/CHARACTER?'' being thrown in for no reason. It's quantity over quality now.
- Too many gags. I like looking out for the new chalkboard and couch gags, but now there's billboard gags, Ralph gags, and the couch gags are far too long.

As an artists I could tell right away how much less work was put into the new intro. Sure it has vibrant colors and cleaner, but the animation sequences were lacking in many scenes. This gave it a lifeless feel. Older still reigns, but the new one could be just as good with some better animation quality by adding more frames and movement.

In the old Simpsons opening, Marge showed fear when Maggie was put in the shopping bag and is relieved when Marge sees Maggie is ok
In the new one, Marge shows no emotion when Maggie is in and pops out of the bag
I don’t know why it bugs me so much
