I played this game before Tom's Review, and I totally agree Tom's opinions. So many good things and ideas, but the consequence is bad. It is impossible for my friends and me to give Forge War Second Edition a chance. But...there is a good theme, if the designer bring some revolutions to the third edition...I'll try it.

When the kickstarter was running the designer had a pc program where you could play the game. I played 2 games on it and came away feeling exactly the same as Tom. This game could have been really good with some serious editing.

Thanks for the review! My impressions from reading the rules were very similar to your conclusions. A game that tries to do too much at once.

Lol I was positive I saw  this game review before. I thought I had lost my mind! Thanks Tom.

I actually like this game. I felt the resource portion was a nice break from the main game. But overall those tiniest cubes in existence, the game length, and just the overwhelming nature of the game will probably prevent this from getting to the table much. Too bad cuz I love crafting in video games and would love to see more games w this theme. No I did not back this on kickstarter btw.

Didn't you already post this review?

I wish you would have showed the entire board and table. Atleast once. I wanted to see what it all looked like instead of super zoomed in.

Well, I'm thinking of buying this game but I'm doing some major rules changes if I buy it - like the mine! You can connect the game with Fighting Fantasy books and I plan to do that. :)

Watched this again without the sound issues, sadly it still does seem like an overwrought game.

Feels like the Dungeon Lords review all over again. Went in with certain expectations and didn't find what he wanted.

This Isaac Childres designer guy seems ambitious. I wouldn’t be surprised if he came up with a great game at some point.

for once, tom... i fully agree with you... This is a game ?? this is one game that i felt is worse than monopoly.

I have seen some other positive reviews of this game. But i don't know... Tom usually don't like euro's and abstract games so... you don't know how to feel about this review. It sure do look like an interesting game. But i also like Dungeon Petz on paper, but when i'm playing the game i feel like there is too many different phases which brakes the flow of the game. I guess it might be possible here too...

sorry tom vasel but that review was way too off, you want to cut everything out of this great game that makes it fun. Less resources? Shorter playtime? less complexity? You mad dude!

The mine is a very thematic fit and is not disconnected from the rest in any way, you should really sit down and play the game as you obviously didn't do it based on your review. Forgewars just manages to keep the players on their toes over the whole span of all 18 rounds and is way much more fun than lords of waterdeep which doesnt has much dept. You also said there is not much interaction - you are completely wrong.

There is so much going on in turn order and the mine, extra mine movements with workers and overseers aswell as clever placement that you can use strikes and hopping other workers much more to your advantage if you are using them right. Combining the right quests with clever playing of the markt and mine is the bread and butter of this game. Seriously sit down and actually give it a go, your review lacks any insight in the clever design of forgewars.

Well, this suffers from Tom's bias towards easy and quick to play games. I don't think he can say the game would be improved with taking away the mine system, for many that's the best part.
