In this lesson I demonstrate a simple and intuitive approach to develop your musical phrasing on guitar.

🔗 LINKS & LESSONS MENTIONED IN THIS VIDEO:

💬 LESSON DESCRIPTION:
Musical phrasing is more than just playing the "right" notes.
Phrasing on guitar is about the rhythmic structure and blank space used in music.
It's what makes something sound catchy, memorable, melodic, and musical.
If you've tried to solo with the "right" notes but it comes out just sounding like a scale then you know what I mean.
And guess what? You're already a master at musical phrasing.
In this short lesson I explain how we can access our natural ability to execute tasteful musical phrasing on guitar.
Music is a form of communication, so why not borrow from the form of communication that we are already experts at?
Thanks for watching!
I hope you have a great rest of your week and that you get some fun guitar time in :)

~ Jared

Jared, can you please upload an uninspiring lesson once in a while. For the umpteenth time I’m supposed to be asleep but I find myself grabbing my guitar and wanting to experiment. In all sincerity, this channel really is something special. Thank you.

That's exactly what I needed.

Source: I've got chords, I've got scales, I've got modes; targeting chord notes, linking chords across the fretboard, etc etc...but it all still sounds like "noodling" the way I've been doing it.

So now I'm going to start doing it this way!

Great way to explain phrasing. I know it vocally but didn't really put thought to it instrumentally. Awareness matters. Thank you.

Thanks Jared, great advice and technique. Ya know... I've realized this concept is so logical and so simple but I feel sometimes I just kinda get lost at "that moment" and "forget" to do this in real time.

What a great example. C major scale desending, just a scale. Same scale played root to root in desending order with rhythmic expression; now a song everyone has heard! BTW, that Martin sounds great. Is it a 00?

This video makes me laugh as I’m watching😅With all that you are saying, I reckon the way I talk is almost like phrasing which then becomes songs to some people😂I am aware of it as I can sing now, learning to play the Guitar! I keep improvising so these videos are helpful, thank you so much!

Good tips! reminds me of The “I like pizza” phrasing from stitchmethod Guitar. Basically the same idea but he plays a whole solo over the blues. Good stuff I need this! Thanks again you’re the best !
