I am 26 years old. When I was 19 I got into a car wreck and I got stuck under the truck for 8hrs. I broke my neck my c3-c7 front and back. I have rods and plates holding my neck together. I had PT for 2 years and I was walking normal again. Fast forward to 2016. I was riding a horse and he ran me into a tree. I shattered my pelvis they had to put rods in that. I broke my femur in half. I have a rod in that. I shattered my left hip. I have a full hip replacement. I broke my leg elbow I have rods in that. And they are never coming out. I have been struggling the past years. It has effected me physically and mentally. And it’s a daily struggle. I have depression bc of it. But I want to get back in the gym and get strong again. So this is a good listen. Thanks.

Spend the time while you're down researching and developing a game plan so you can come back even more aggressively than before.

Two years ago I spent four months in an in-patient physical rehab center after a month-long coma from a bacterial infection. When I got there I was a wreck, unable to stand or walk. My physical therapist said over and over “Do what you can, any way you can.” With her help, the help of my occupational therapist, and the help of your commentary on Sisyphus, Commander, I got out of the center two months ahead of their most optimistic projection.

If your body is in pain, it means it's telling you to stop what you are doing and rest somewhere you can't be hurt again. A physical body does not care about your ego to "push through". If it's broken, it's broken. And when it gets broken seriously, it will stay broken permanently and you'll be on medication and pain for the rest of your life. I was in the Marine Corps, and I see a lot of Marines just "grinding through" the pain like it's nothing. That's cool IF you are in the battlefield where you have to push yourself to survive. But if you are not, then you'd better go see a doctor and give your body a proper rest. Your body is yours only. If it's broken, nobody will take care of it. Nobody will care if you scream at night in pain. Your body is your only asset in this world. Don't abuse it.

I think bodyweight calisthenics exercises, functional training, resistance bands and yoga stretches are probably the best ways to heal and gain your strength back.

Injuries are a great time to explore other methods and techniques to keep grinding (while also giving your body time to recover and adapt)

I literally just got an injury, going to the urgent care/hospital tomorrow. Wish for the best lads! Hoping this knee problem isn't too serious

40 years old. Did martial arts and lifting since my teens. I am now so broken and injured that I cannot get in and out of a car, put on a shirt, or sit down in a chair without horrific excruciating pain everywhere.

Jocko injured my ego... I haven't been the same since

I had quite my share of injuries and tweaks over the last years. If its nothing too serious, the best thing is almost always to keep moving the hurting body part to promote blood flow and regeneration!

Injury is the most overlooked topic in the fitness space. For every 1000 videos or articles published on working out (programs, techniques, diet etc) there is 1 addressing injury.

Yet, IMO nothing will damage your health, cause depression and knock you out of a routine faster or harder. And there never seems to be any real answers and medicine offers basically the same poor solutions as 80 years ago in the form of surgery or PT. I’m cautious of surgery and I think PT is mostly quackery.

This video made me feel better seeing the comments and hearing about how these 2 hard-as-nails guys aren’t invincible either.

The same goes for the mental injuries, do what you can do, you will heal over time.

Past 15yrs of my life have been nothing but injuries 😅🤣🙏🏾😬🦾

-broken wrist
-fractured ankle(limited dorsiflexion
-pulled each hamstring twice
-fractured pelvic ring
Broken elbow
-dislocated fingers
-lock jaw
-supposed hernia where my pelvic ring injury was
-dislocated shoulder x4 (same shoulder)
-injured left knee (for 18months)
-just injured my right quad
-just tore one of my knee ligaments on right knee

And all sorts of tendinitis

But being injured becomes a journey that you begin to love and hate. Never easy but the body is beautiful and it takes time to get right

Eat the pain

I sustained a knee redislocation from Muay Thai. I first injured it at age 13 then dislocated at 18 years old and have gotten to a plateau but have been told I will need an Osteotomy and MPFL reconstruction due to cartilage damage and my knee being dislocated. It’s a depressing and saddening thing however I’m going to go through this surgery to start my dreams of one day fighting professionally but in the meanwhile focus on school and recovery. It’s been the hardest 2 years of my life I am 20 now and still awaiting surgery but I’m hopeful I will power through

There's a strong correlation between fasting and autophagy, one of the cellular processes underlying healing. Either alternate day or about 20/4 daily intermittent fasting seems to be the sweet spot. Also, of course, the quality of fatty acids in the diet is fundamental to the soundness of tissues built therefrom.

An injured dog knows all this instinctively. He'll curl up motionless for a whole day, and his appetite later for bacon is legendary!

Meniscus tear, surgery next Friday. I really needed this today. Goal was to be lean 250 by EOY, plan now is to dial back mass, get into jujitsu, fit mind and body. Thank you
