There were many things we wish we knew before visiting Niseko. We made this guide to save you time if you're visiting Niseko for the first time and need a little help.

We'll cover how to get there, the ski passes, the different resorts, how to get started with no skiing or snowboarding experience, and what to do if you don't have any equipment.

*Correction:* We forgot to make it clear that Hanazono Resort is part of Niseko United as well*

Want to see what it's like around town when you're not skiing?

We also found a thriving food truck scene in Niseko

Don't forget Niseko Hanazono! It is by far the most modern resort with the fastest lifts and gondola. The Park Hyatt is the most luxurious hotel in the entire area. It is interesting that you missed this resort considering it is part of the Niseko United All Mountain Lift Pass or the Grand Hirafu/Hanazono Lift Pass. I think you mistakenly put Moiwa in the video. Moiwa is good, but not available on Niseko United lift pass. It is a different mountain.

Correction/Addition here: We forgot to mention or make it clear that Hanazono Resort is part of Niseko United and is another great resort option to ski at. 🙏

Taking the train anti clockwise is an option and get off at Kutchan nearby to Hirafu. Another option is to take the train to Lake Toya then bus to Rustutu. Great resort West is really good by East is worth checking out. Can take a half hour trip to Hiruafa from there

Any chance the snow gear in Japan video will be uploaded soon? As I will be in Niseko this February. Very helpful guide by the way!

My partner and I are planning a trip to Japan, we're wanting to spend a couple of days in Tokyo before heading to Niseko. I've been to Tokyo before but never Niseko and my partner has never been to Japan but is dying to snowboard in Niseko. This video was super helpful to watch as we start planning our trip. Thank you!

Hi Steven & Diep! Im happy I found your video about Niseko and watched it. I would like to ask if all the ski equipments and thermal suit can be rented? My husband and I will be in Niseko on Feb 28 and Mar 1 - never tried to ski but would love to experience it. Can u please share some info if where we can book a ski lesson? Or is there a company in Niseko that we can do walk in Ski lesson. I hope you'll notice me. Thank you. New subs from Dubai😊

It is good to book a bus ticket in advance. But what if your flight arrival is delay? I'm worried i'll miss out my booked bus departure.

Few things. Niseko United is made up of 4 resorts and Moiwa is not one of them. Hanazono is the 4th. Moiwa operates on its own independent lift pass.

You should rent ski boots or snowboard boots. These are separate from normal winter boots. Some shops will rent gloves and goggles but you probably don't want to rent those types of items.

Book everything in advance. Busses, accommodation, lessons, activities, RESTAURANTS, everything!

Enjoy your Niseko Holiday!

Thanks Steven! I was wondering if I should go in January or February. Everything seems to be booked for early January. I haven’t done any snowboarding in 15 years but wanted to do it again in 2024. I also wonder if the group classes would be worth it!
