Sir Kazuo Ishiguro on why literature matters

Kazuo Ishiguro elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 1989, is a novelist, screenwriter and short-story writer. Kazuo was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 2017 and won The Booker Prize in 1989 for his novel 'Remains of the Day'.

I'm not a university sort of person so I feel a little out of my depth but if it's not possible to communicate personally it's a way of knowing how other people feel and if it closes distances between people. Does that make sense?
