Woke up today in Calgary, Alberta. The sky is dark and heavy with thick smoke from the fires. In my youth summers here were uniquely beautiful. Now we lose most of our summer to "forest fire season" (of course there is no "season" as the fires burn year round).
We live in an apocalyptic, Hellfire, chocking our throats and stinging our eyes, yet we have an upcoming election for Premier and neither candidate or local/national media have so much as mentioned the issue in context of the election. Most people here continue to support fossil fuel corporations, pretending that none of this environmental degradation is happening.
I'm afraid that our tendency to take a long time to change will be our undoing. I feel sorry for the youth of today and tomorrow. We've left them a burning world.

I am living in Calgary, and I so appreciate that the wildfire does not diffuse to Calgary, yesterday I smiled at the strong odor of fire. I hope this disaster will be eliminated as early as possible.

The history I learned was that the land we farmed on the Prairie near Easter Egg Vegreville. Was where the Stony Cree would be at this time of year. Following Bison and lighting smudges. They didn't return to the foothills until Snow began falling, the fires had burned out, hunting was abundant and the mosquitos were gone. Then we all came over here from The Russian Empire/Ukraine and elsewhere and cultivated the land for Banks, and Big Agri, Big Oil, Big Tech, Big Pharma Big Shopping Mall, Big Amazon warehouse etc. The nomadic culture was destroyed on the Prairie forever. Pray for the sinners and regime change please.

One good thing is that there’ll be a lot less mosquitoes this summer. Yay!

Amazon Summit: Amazon countries recognize forest tipping point
They got together to say that it's still possible to explore! Who are the countries benefiting from degradation? They are not from the region! Wood, ores, oil, meat and cattle leather, etc. LOL There was no development for the countries in the region. Foreign companies are in place. I remember the 1980s when the United States prohibited Brazil from developing the field of information technology, threatening not to buy Brazilian shoes anymore. Who is the biggest exporter of shoes is not Brazil, a sign that they stopped buying even Brazil being obedient. Shoes here are not cheap.

Reporting on the climate crisis, without mentioning the climate crisis is a major reason that civilization is on the brink of collapse . the McMurray fires occurred at 1.1 C above pre industrial averages, We are now 1.2 C, above and expected to hit 1.5 C with the current building El Nino event . we have no idea what that will do , ,, but going from .65 C to 1.1 C over 15 years caused a tenfold increase in extreme weather events (christidis et al 2015 )and we know its not linear ..Look for the book " Fire Weather : A true Story from a Hotter World, by John Vaillant about the McMurray Beast, from a gentler climate
