Thank you for normalizing this!! College is not for everyone & it doesn’t make you less of a person for dropping out to follow your dreams!!

I dropped out 3 years ago and became a flight attendant! Best decision I could have made for myself and I feel like I learn so much more about the world than college could ever teach me

just because you’re good at something doesn’t mean you have to enjoy it!!

For some people college is the right move and for others it’s not. It depends on what you’re working towards. One thing I disagree with is young people going to college simply because they feel their parents “forced” them or told them they have to go to college to be successful when in actuality they want to be pursuing something else. You don’t need the approval of your parents or others to pursue you dream. Believe in yourself.

I took a gap year this year because of online school. I hated school last spring. Covid took away everything good about it. Everyone has a different path! 💗🙂

I just dropped my classes and wow I can't agree more. I had so much anxiety just thinking I was going to school without really wanting to. I do it to please my mom. I had that feeling as well and just knowing that I am wasting my time and money made me more anxious and have a bad feeling.

yes!!! let’s normalize the fact that success is relative and college isn’t the only way to it! it wasn’t until my last semester of my senior year that i realized the reason i went to college was bc i was convinced it was my only option and the obvious next step. i would’ve saved thousands of dollars had i considered the fact that the only person who could decide whether or not i am successful is me and i don’t necessarily need a college degree to prove that to myself. proud of you for doing what makes you happy and so excited for the content you’ll make out of it :)))

Me: *searching videos of people who dropped out so I have the bravery to tell my family that I'm doing the same*

I felt the same way when I dropped out of collegue, I had zero motivation coming to class, I spent all the time forcing myself to enjoy and love what I was doing but it just wasn't for me. It's a hard decision to make but it feels like a relief. I'm glad you feel better now.

In life especially after the past year, we have all learnt you have to do everything and anything to make you happy. No matter what it is college, work, home life, interests. If it doesn't make you happy you have the choice to get rid of it. A detox. You have to do what makes you happy. What makes you feel safe. Your mental health, your happiness, is yours own it embrace it. Be you and never stop. You have the power

Reese, you seem so sure and at peace with your decision. You also seem so much happier in your latest videos. Can't wait to see what's next for you. 💛

I really wish I could drop out of college, but my dad has paid for it (outside of scholarships) & I’d feel so guilty wasting his money. While college is mentally & emotionally draining me, I’m going to push through to make him (and my other family members) proud of me. I’m also very close to the end & should be graduating this December. I’m thinking of this as temporary suffering until I get my degree & then doing whatever makes me happy after 😅 I’m happy that you’re in a position where you can make this decision for yourself & be at peace with it. 🥺💚

And also, I hate that in high school they make you feel as if college was the only option after graduating. There are so many other routes, trades and ventures that are options and can make for a “successful” life. College isn’t for everybody. If I had known then what I knew now, I’m 95% sure I would’ve never went the traditional college route.

I AM SO PROUD OF YOU for making a decision that is right for you!! I went through this exact same thing a few years ago when I was 21ish...I'm 26 now, and still don't regret it. I have so many credits and could easily finish a degree in a year, but I left school. The weight off your shoulders is huge, and I noticed my quality of life improved SO MUCH by leaving. Good luck with everything you pursue with your newfound freedom!

I'm 27, I struggled so much in college since I was 18 on and off. I just need 3 semesters left. But with where the world is going right now, I am also not excited, motivated, or even seeing results. Might go back and finish later on in life but learning online for something I'm not excited about to possibly ending up in a miserable job is just not working out right now.

I love this because I am also struggling with college a lot. I think it's very inspiring that you choose to do something that makes you happy. You don't have to explain anything. This is your life and your choices are no one's business. Also, "the only point in life is to be happy" is an amazing thing to realize, so true.

My God, why do I feel SO related to your point? I’ve literally been feeling like that, waking up everyday wanting to do something, create and be happy and college just putting that fire out and feeling like “ugh”. I’m so ready to dropout as well but I have the fear of not being successful and happy with yourself without a college degree or later finding out that it’s late.

I think it's also super important to acknowledge the privilege of being able to drop out/taking gap years in the first place. A lot of people find themselves not having this choice (for financial or personal reasons) and even if it's amazing for you, let's not pretend it's possible for everyone. (also, the idea of going to college and studying something that makes you happy is wild to me, I had zero choices in what to study (immigrant parents) and wow, it must be incredible). :') I wish everyone struggling in school/uni at the moment a lot of strength, we can do it!

I dropped out after my 2nd year. Went about to work full time and enrolled back in again. Now in my last year...online school is hard...but i keep pushing myself since the semester is literally going to be over soon. Having mental meltdown every now and then.
