Mercruiser 5.0 1(f) - New Paint Brand Not Drying As Fast

In this video I paint a Mercruiser 5.0 MPFI engine with one coat of primer only. I switched to a high temperature 500 degree F engine primer that says to apply the second coat within 1 hour of the first. Well I did this on a different engine and it didn’t work out well. After applying two coats of primer exactly as the instructions say on the can (45 minutes apart) I then applied one coat of black high temperature engine paint and the paint finish wrinkled and splotched. So on this 5.0, to get a good finish I’m letting each coat dry 24 hours before the next coat, also as described on the can. And just to be safe I’m going to only paint the oil pan to start each coat since if the finish turns poor I can use paint stripper on the oil pan to remove the paint and start over. The oil pan has a smooth steel finish compared to the rough cast iron which makes removing paint much easier.
