War Thunder F-4 FGR2 (F-4M), the PHANTOM that needs A LOT of SKILL & LUCK to be competitive!

Flying out the British F4 Phantom the FGR2 with only missiles, WHY is this aircraft a 11.3, or WHY doesn't it at least have the 9L at 11.3? NO IDEA!

This plane is pretty good and the engines are amazing but the only big problem that I have with it is how annoying the radar is to lock

Either give it 7Fs (Which the FGR 2 got IRL), or give it 9Ls (which it also got IRL), or give it both and move it to 11.7. and move the FG 1 to 11.0.

Even after they add the ADV britain is gonna be stuck with it till we get the euro typhoon, that is unless gaijin adds common wealth aircraft to the british tree, or they go even more balls to the walls and adds something like the sea harrier FA2 with AMRAAMs or ASRAAMs

Unfortunately Britain is in a very poor position at the moment (in my opinion). The only 2 top tier options for airRB (tornado gr1 is not even worth metioning for ARB) are this and the Harrier both of which struggle compared to other nations aircraft. Whenever britain gets its ADV it will 1 be VERY difficult to grind and 2 will still perform poorly in the current meta and I think this will unfortunately be the case until the typhoon is added wayyyy down the line. My only hope is gaijin adds for example, South African aircraft like the Atlas Cheetah as a tech tree vehicle to bridge the gap between the tornado and typhoon.

I would definitely give the FGR.2 the 9L and keep it at 11.3 (and the F-4J(UK) as well tbh) and downtier the FG.1. That way both would feel different enough, with the FGR.2 being the more advanced one. This would also make place for a Tornado ADV with AIM-9L/I-1 and Skyflash super TEMP at 11.7.

PD: I'm still not sure about the F-4F... I do think it has a place at 11.3 or 11.0 with 4x9L, not at 10.7 sharing the BR with the F-104...

Look all you gotta do is try to flank groups and hug the ground forever as far as I'm concerned. F14As and Mig-23 variants are the only real threats that I come across. And for some reason, majority of those guys come down with a mild case of brain sputter the second their active radar missiles miss the mark. They also seem very surprised when my FGR doesn't lose all it's energy in a turn, thanks to ridiculously powerful engines. Radar not bugging out so much anymore either. The plane is not "meta", but its not bad by any means imo.

A BR change to 11 will change nothing at all .... since the MM is "Own Br + max possible" it will still face F 16 and Mig 29 . I liked flying the FGR2, even against the F 14, getting 2 Bases and maybe 2 Kills result in a + of Sl . But now with the New prems and F 16 / Mig 29 . No chance to get a base (F16 is faster and enemy prems with all aspect missiles rush both sides of map)) and beeing spottet right after take off ... its no fun at all. The enemys are faster, turn better, have better radar and better missiles and the prems have the advantage of low repaircost . Now i need 3 Kills in a match to get a +. Its a great plane if matched in its BR but in a full uptier, its totaly outclassed.

and what about the british hunter f6? subsonic, no flares, no radar, SRAAMS are fine but considering their short range and that in 10.0 there is AIM 9L and R60M it is just ridiculous that this aircraft still in 10.0.

yep, british phantom may shoot all aspect ir missile, but the version seems like the fgr3, now we got is the fgr2. so....

7:18 XF-2A from 1995 can be added in next patch beacuse it doesn't have AESA radar only AN/APQ-65 (which is F/A-18 radar)

Its so frustrating. I grinded my way up to this Jet (as others didn't seem as appealing). It's shocking. My flares/chaff don't seem to do anything against my opponents missiles. I've rarely had a kill on the Skyflash missiles - and using 9G's at this BR is a joke, we get 9G's at 9.7BR with the Harrier GR3. The only good thing is its speed, but that's not actually a factor that's important in gameplay.
Every damn game I die (Unless I skirt around the map, wait until there's a few enemies left with hopefully no flares/chaff and get some sneaky kills - but that's boring)

If they change this phantom then they will have to change other phantoms to make it fair honestly, the f4e and f4e would need a buff aswell if they do end up buffing British phantoms by giving them better missiles

I still want like a 10.3 f4 that has flares and a better ir missile maybe aim-g. Because God I hate flying against mig 21 and mirage at 10.3 and can't defend myself.

Only allowed to give better missles to premium aircraft and then give it lower br

It needs to go down to 11.0-10.7 or stay where it is and get better missiles

I heavily use the fg1, love it more than the f4e (us), but the relatively low flare count really sucks
