Russian track and field athletes will remain banned from the Olympics following claims the country ran a state-sponsored doping programme. The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and 68 Russian athletes attempted to overturn the suspension, implemented by the body that governs world athletics. But the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) has ruled it can stand.
A handful of Russian athletes could still compete as neutrals at the Rio Games, which start on 5 August.

Sad I will not see Russia this year, but cheating doesn't win

All countries are using it, whether on a national level or through individual coaches... And they have been for many years. Even us sporting brits, just look at Fatima Whitbread with her bulging biceps and no neck... She was winning gold medals in the 80's and we just pretended to ignore the obvious 'supplementation' that was going on.

Fun fact: You're more likely to get the Zika virus in the south of the U.S. than in Brazil. It's winter in Brazil anyone, so there will be barely any mosquitoes.

1. Athletes should be respected by others
2. Don't bring politics to olympics
3. Shame on the refree and judge who took money to control the games
4. Drugs shell never be taken by athletes

Those who cheat in the Olympics dishonor the sprit of sport and what the Olympics is supposed to be about. I only feel sorry for the athletes who haven't dishonored themselves by doping. cause they are the ones who will suffer most. but i am for the ban.

Love how everyone is blaming the US for this... Last time I checked it doesn't run the Olympics and sorry that US media is a much larger media outlet than anywhere else so there is massive amounts of coverage... Don't see how that changes the situation. Stop blaming other people and take responsibility.

There is no honor in completing in a drug free athletic competition while taking steroids or any other performance enhancing drug.

Lucky them, I wouldn't want to go to Brazil any time soon.

"We're not going to go to the olympics because the olympics won't let us go." That sounds legit. For a bunch of five year olds.

And if anyone has cost Russia's athletes their opportunities, it's the state which has backed this cheating. Now the same state is going to act all outraged that it got caught? I always think the more aggressive the denial the more likely that they are guilty.

Bah - we need an Xtreme Olympics - all roid's and cybernetic enhancements allowed, it would just be a separate thing for super human athletes to compete in.

Clean athletes should be able to run under a neutral flag like other athletes have done in the past.

At the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio Russian national team will be the most "clean" in terms of doping
