Unlike other carriers, Verizon doesn’t make you jump through any hoops to unlock your phone making the process really straightforward and simple! Verizon sells phones locked to their network to mitigate theft and other fraudulent activity. But your phone is only locked for a short period of time, then it’s automatically unlocked!

For prepaid and postpaid phones, Verizon recently changed its unlocking policy. If you bought your phone before July 2019, it probably came unlocked. All you need to do is insert a SIM card from a new carrier, and you should be good to go. If that doesn’t work you may need to call customer service for help. I’m putting that number in the description below.

If you bought your phone after July 2019, you will have to wait 60 days, then Verizon will unlock in automatically.

Now if you’re in the military, you can get your phone unlocked anytime, even during the 60-day lock period. All you need to do is show proof of deployment!

Once your phone is unlocked, you can take it to a new carrier, travel abroad and use a foreign sim, or sell it. If you plan on switching carriers, make sure your phone is compatible first! Generally newer phones bought after 2017 have the technology to work on multiple carrier networks. You can check compatibility by going to your preferred carrier’s site and using their compatibility checker. As a general rule, Verizon and Sprint phones work on each others network, and T-Mobile and AT&T phones work on each others network.

How about samsung s22 ultra which I waited the 60 days and now it reads my metro pcs Sim and I can make calls ( switched imei over to metro) and no internet or mms even after configuring the apn settings.... help

I leased my phone from Verizon s10+ but only paid for half . So they locked my phone . But I can use it with at&t so is my imei number still shown as restricted from selling it? It's been 2 years already..

I bought this Samsung z fold 3 unlocked and when I put my Sim in it works for about 20 min then I get a message saying my phone is not supporting my Sim card at this time makes no sense since the phone was sold to me unlocked already from Verizon so.does that mean Verizon just scamed me out my money I'm currently using the phone but on wifi only

The video is helpful but not what i needed as i locked myself out of my old phone because i switched it from 9 digit alphanumeric Password to PIN and a week later i went to check on it as I use my old devices to run The World Community Grid program that the phone has been running since it was a new Galaxy S9. I'm trying to find out if my carrier can unlock the PIN lock before it resets / wipes the data. The phone had to be upgraded as it doesn't work on Verizons newer frequency. Anyone know if a cell carrier can unlock a PIN lock on Android Galaxy S9? Appreciate any useful information. Thanks Eddie J.

Verizon didn’t automatically unlock my phone even after it was paid off! I called and I was told it was released . It worked on another carrier for a few hours and then back to saying no Verizon sim!
