Macron cannot be serious! He can't possibly win such a referendum. I told everyone that Cameron would lose the Brexit referendum and I was shocked by how many thought that he would win. Doesn't any read a book any more? People vote for what they want, not what they think is possible. The only thing everyone will agree on is that Macron has stuffed up.
It would be much smarter to hold an early election. At least he would have a chance of winning. And it give him more time. Can you have early elections in France?
