1:07 japan seemed to take the lead and drag off the made in China. But yeah there's probably nothing really measurable in it. Id still go the made in japan where possible. As long as the Japanese quality control standards are in place and they don't try to go to cheap with made in china you cant really go wrong.

All of makita used to be made in japan. I have two makita circular saws that i bought brand new about 1991 and they say made in japan. They still run, never changed the brushes and one has been severly abused, cutting wood, stone, concrete, tile, metal

Hey thanks man for doing that lol. No one else has done this online.
Appericate you showing the chuck differences too, I had no idea the Japanese chucks did that. They were basically the same; although if we were going to split hairs, it looks like the Japanese one handles high torque applications a little better.

Not enough of a difference for me to be worried which one I get

So you compared equivalent models? That's a new approach. Other videos attempting to answer this question use different models and generations and still draw conclusions. AvE? PF?

Of course, if there was a difference either it was intentional or Makita F-d up. So it is not surprising to see little difference.

Drive them until they break, that's the best way to test the build quality

TD172 из Японии имеет такое же отличие патрона ? Does the TD172 from Japan have the same cartridge difference ?

Makita China also produces several colours of TD171D

Hey man I don't know if you use socket adapters, but I was thinking since on the Japanese chuck it lets bits go in further. Do you notice you break less socket adapters on the Japanese one, because of that? Interesting theory, curious.

Are the belt clips different? I ddidn't see one installed on the Japanese one.

Is the Chinese version the one the United States gets? Made in China for US? If so that’s a bit of a turn off

That looked close enough to be within whatever the margin of error is for this test. So no real difference in performance. Japanese one wins by default because there's color options.
