How To :: Badlands 2500# Wireless Winch MOUNTED SWITCH MOD

preview_player
Показать описание
NOTE: This video still applies to winches with the new style solenoid box that the #63139 winch comes with! It uses the same style solenoid and wireless receiver as the #61840 shown in this video.

A VERY simple modification for the Harbor Freight 2500# Wireless-only winch that is a must. By following the video, you can add in an ON MOMENTARY-OFF-ON MOMENTARY switch in parallel to the wireless receiver and effectively add a hard-wire connection to your winch for added dependability. Losing your remote or a dead remote battery is a thing of the past.

---

WARNING :: PERFORM THIS MOD AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Be sure to follow safety procedures; disconnect the battery before doing any service to any electric components. Always wear eye protection when welding or grinding. Keep fingers out of moving parts.

THIS WILL VOID ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES ON YOUR WINCH.

---

For this mod, you will need:
On Momentary-Off-On Momentary switch
14/16 gauge wire
5x female blade connectors
3x male blade connectors
4x #10 ring connectors
Wire stripper/ crimping tool
Wire cutters
Philips head screwdriver
Silicon/ brush-on electrical tape
Paint markers or something to identify wires

Thanks for the very detailed video. My remote on my 2500 quit working all together. This was just what I needed to wire mine.

Exactly what my dad and I talked about this morning. He has a rhino 660 that he is putting a snow blade on and was worried about wearing gloves and using the remote. Now he can have both like you have it. Thanks so much and using a marker for each out put helped big time! I will update when we do the mod.

Thank you so much man, thank you for showing us how to do it step by step. I put the same winch on the back of my 4 seater RZR but I been through 2 winches because the wireless part goes bad every time, so I bypass it like you did and bought the same switch from tractor supply, so now I don't have to worry about the wireless part because I have the switch now.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for the great tutorial! It stopped me from having to continue to beat my head against the wall. I ended up just ripping the wireless components out of the solenoid box and using the wires that were running from it to wire the switch. Saved me having to pig tail everything. Thanks again!

just picked one of these up open- boxed at HF for $30. Discovered the reason for the open box was no remote, lol, because I wanted to have this switch anyway. Found your MOST EXCELLENT and informative video. Thanks so much for taking the time. Dang, I freaking love YouTube!!! :-{)}

Don't worry about the video being long. I hate it when someone has a video like this that's way too short to be any help to anyone. Those people seem to get too excited to post a video that they forget that they can retry it and get a better video.

This was a lot easier than it looks in the video. I bought a KFI winch switch for $15 from Rocky Mountain ATV. Took me about an hour. I removed the rubber bushing and ran all through that hole and used silicon to seal it. Awesome video thanks

This was seriously a perfect how to video. I followed the steps you showed and everything went perfect. I will have to change out my switch. The one I got is just an on/off/on switch. Not a momentary. Guess I wasn’t paying attention when I bought the switch. BUT everything worked great. Thanks for an awesome video.

phannphukkingtazztik! Yesterday i was stomache sick trying to troubleshoot how to keep my 2500 from pulling my swing keel thru my sloops hull... from the UNCONTROLLABLE last rotation and a half. Today i'm sipping coffee dikkin' around on the web, and BOOM! you have helped me build a mountain, my friend. Thank you Keystone Motorsports you have no idea. I paused the vid, made a few printscreens and sent to phone, and i'm off to napa. Great video, and gutsy engineering to boot!

Excellent video. I just purchased the winch and was wondering how to install it. Now I know! I did find a ATV Handle Bar Replacement Winch Mini Rocker Switch on eBay for $17 which should work out well. Now I'll have to head back to Harbor Freight for a mounting plate. Thank you!!

Definitely works. Just did this mod yesterday on my Polaris Ranger. Completed the mod as described, but I used a square switch you would typically see on a side by side dash. All works perfectly. Thanks!

My control unit was made a little different and didn't have the remote wire exposed but wired up the same. The remote is nice but makes snow plowing difficult. Good video helped a lot thanks!
