18 had ability to exit vehicle and call for help, dig yourself out

They managed to just enhance graphics in four years, mess up AI drivers to the point where are you scared as shit to get close
Do physics that makes sense in 50% of the game and the rest is WTF and stripped you from the ability to get out of the vehicle

The new game looks and plays incredibly, everything is improved. Shame about the constant crashes though. Why can't they solve this, it's been "fatal error" for years now.

From what I’m seeing, the two games are oriented differently. Dakar 18 is trying to reproduce the most close to the real thing experience, with realistic environment and realism features. On the other side, despide having a great navigation system, Dakar Desert Rally is more arcade oriented. Map is huge and beautiful with a huge work on it, but environments are not realistic at all. There’s a lot of desert highway styles tracks that could be seen in a MX VS ATV game. The game is really beautiful but forces environment diversity and level design to be non realistic (too much palm trees everywhere, too much water anywhere, planes crashed into the map, riding under old abandonned structures and boats). That just doesn’t make any sense for a Dakar game. It looks great but it suck you out of the game realism of what Dakar is supposed to be. In real life, Dakar is sometimes very repetitive, with huge dunes above eyesight, Dakar 18 replicated it quite well.

Desert Rally is looking beautiful, sand physic is great, animations are awesome, models are amazing. The game is better with speed feeling, driving is more enjoyable with better physic.

What we need is Dakar 18 with all graphics enhancement and Desert Rally driving physic.

I’ll buy Dakar 18 to play it and when I’ll be finished with it, maybe Desert Rally just for fun. But for realistic experience, it’s better to stick to 18 I think

Seems like texture on 18 is a little better. I wish they would have left the option in 22 to be able to be towed and leave the vehicle to dig yourself out.

Old game looks more realistic to me... the road in the new game looks so... gamey. Super wide and the texture is so clean and smooth. I don't know.

18 is better more fun, ddr AI will kill you anytime, there is speed limit but AI is ferocious, simulation mode is hell for motorcycle, you not only race but survive for your life from these killer machine trucks and cars

I find it kinda funny that so many people here are complaining about the new game... there were so many bugs and the physics were so shitty in Dakar 18 that it was basically impossible to finish the career in 60% of the vehicles in the game. did you ever finish the whole Dakar rally in a UTV, quad or a bike? I didn't think so. even the cars were almost undrivable! and it looked like ass, even in 2018.

How much does Dakar Desert Rally cost, ohh yes just the base game's 40€...

New game seems like soft focus. Textures and atmosphere are smoother. Colours are much more saturated and bright but also less contrast.

New game is very generic. Seems more dated.

DDR on freeroam is what I’ve been waiting for all my life . Forget about racing AI and see if you can get your motorcycle to the top of that mountain in the distance. Best open world driving game ever made in terms of beauty, things to discover, and feeling of exploration. If it had BeamNg crash physics, it would be perfect.

Dakar 18 is the superior game that plays well. The new game just looks pretty, the game is awful, messed up physics & terrible driver AI

Just another game focused on graphics rather than content and it is not even that much better looking, really. They basically made Forza Horizon Dakar Rally.

Del Dakar 18 me gustan los mapas y las etapas y el Dakar Derset Rally me gusta todo estaría bueno que hagan un nuevo Dakar por Latinoamérica dónde corrieron antes por estos países 🇧🇴🇦🇷🇨🇱🇪🇨🇵🇪 que metieran esos países y más vehículos como el Gordini de Robby Gordon los buggy SMG la Ford Ranger de YPF o VW TOUAREG del 2010 o la Mitsubishi L200 de ancap de la tripulación uruguaya que corrio en el 2012 lastima no termino 😢 pero estaría buena mi idea que dicen

hay algo que la gente nunca se da cuenta, es que siempre una imagen con mas brillo va a ser mas debil el color, al ultimo dakar le pones un poco menos de brillo y apenas mas contraste y eso hace que los colores tengan profundidas.... como mas peso, mas presencia... el brillo ablanda toso soy de los que usan los teles con poco brillo justamente par darle impacto al color y no blanquearlo por asi las texturas se nota que el ultimop dakar es superiro, por otra parte el ultimo dakar transmite mas velocidad (incluso si miras el velocimetro en todas las imagenes los veiculos llegan a la misma velocidad pero en el dakar 18 pareciera que vas en bicicleta jajaja, en saludos!
