The Green New Deal’s Bad Science

Countries around the world are embracing subsidies to expand the production of renewables, and environmentalists claim that we’re on the cusp of a tech-driven energy revolution that will make oil and gas obsolete. Are they right?

Not likely. According to Meigs and Mills, improvements in wind and solar technology are reaching their theoretical limits. It would be virtually impossible to generate the amount of wind and solar power necessary to replace the world’s oil and gas consumption. And yet, renewables enjoy strong political support, while nuclear technology, our best source of clean, reliable, and—yes—safe electricity, faces intense political opposition.

I work in an industry that uses lithium in its manufacturing process. But it is becoming more and more expensive and inaccessible. And this happened not only because of disruptions in supply chains,
but also because half of all lithium produced is currently used by electric vehicle manufacturers. Just think about it! Electric vehicles have already eaten half of all the lithium produced, but haven't made any significant impact on the automotive market. Electric cars are still nothing more than a very expensive toy for the rich and a virtue signaling device for those who can afford it.

I some point in time the current warming period will come to an end and the cooling cycle will re-commence. But rather than preparing now for the next ice age, politicians will wait until it is far to late to work out how to grow food when the temperatures start to fall - as they will.

The same thing is unfortunately happening in Korea... A president watches a movie, gets frightened, halts new nuclear plants for a while, tries to expand the share of 'clean' energy, introduces tons of cheap Chinese solar panels, trees get removed from mountains, due to low efficiency ends up burning more LNG for power increasing pollution, rasing electricity
