Dude! Thank you SO MUCH for posting this video. This was the first game I attended - I was 10 years old. We sat up in the third level at the Spectrum behind the Boston 3rd period net. An amazing memory for me. Thank you SO MUCH!

I can't believe that I still remember some of the commercials after 36 years...yet, I cannot remember what I did for lunch today. Thanks for the upload

Great video.  Those were wonderful times.  Less than 5 years later, only Brian Propp would still be on the team...  Hockey was reaching a peak then.  I think the NHL was at it's best in the mid to late 80's.   It's gone down hill since.  Hard to believe the Spectrum is gone now.  torn down in order to build a crappy bar.   Love the lack of helmets, the absence of advertising on the boards and ice. The old style goalie masks and gear. One ref letting them play a little.  Thanks for posting this.  Post more if you have it!!

I remember the back page headline of the Philadelphia Daily News for this game "They Got Their Point Across!"

Oh, my god...Bobby 'The Chief' Taylor. Crazy, crazy, crazy.

I'm so used to seeing him on Sun Sports here in the Tampa, FL area as a commentator for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

I've met him a couple times. He's a really nice guy.

I loved watching this and the quality of your video is impeccable  ..thanks for posting and keeping this history alive ..  as a 10 yr old  I met and have an autograph stick of this Bruin team from this same year... ..I was most impressed to observe Ray Bourque... his calm stature and ability to change up the pace evident even as an 18 yr old rookie The team and Sinden had so much trust in his ability loads of ice time and  leaving him out on the penalty kill even  5 on 3! Epic stuff!

I loved listening to Gene Hart when he was the play-by-play man for the Flyers.  I was waiting to hear one of his trademark calls like "they whack at it!" in front of the goal.  Anybody remember that?  When Mike "Doc" Emrick came along some years later as the Flyers play-by-play man for a few seasons, he was god too...until he went to the New Jersey Devils (booo!), now with NBC.  Then finally, Jim Jackson who currently is the Flyers play-by-play announcer, he's great too.  It's also not going to be the same when Lou Nolan, the public address announcer, decides to retire.  He's been there a long time, back when the Flyers played at The Spectrum to now at the Wells Fargo Center.

Great memories!  Used the watch 1980 Flyers games with my roommate from Cherry Hill at Rutgers. I used to think the intro was sooo high tech. I still really enjoy hearing it though.  Thanks for the post!

Wow, I remember this open from when I was a little kid, seems like mostly on Saturday night. Amazing how something I haven't seen in 38 years takes me right back!

Back in the days before 5-minute overtimes. Goals like Macleish's here were as close as you got to a regular season OT goal.

This game was after the 35 game unbeaten streak but the last in an 11 game unbeaten streak. Speaking of that season, in a weird coincidence, the Flyers split with the Islanders during the regular season 2 games a piece. All 4 games had scores of 5-2. Of course the Iles beat us in 6 in the finals to start their dynasty.

The broadcast team was never the same when Don Earle left. The team of Hart and Earle were the very very best. Daddy

That's back when the flyers had heart. They were a team that you could believe in. I miss those teams and Gene Hart.

Love the use of Chicago's "Street Player" going into one of the commercial breaks.

Finally!!....Phil Myre playing for a winning team (other than Montreal in the early 70's) and winning more games in goal than he lost (19-7-15).
