In this video we’re in the Pittsburgh Power Systems Experience Center (PSEC) to discuss the components of your homes electrical service.

Erik Hurd, Senior PSEC Engineer, is joined by Adam Schmitt of Ferry Electric to explain how energy enters your home, feeds various electrical components, and is then distributed throughout your home. Also, based on application, how newer technologies such as EV chargers and solar panels can be connected to your system.
Using our own residential power system demo located in the PSEC, we discuss items such as:

• Underground and overhead utility service
• Automatic transfer switch compared to a manual transfer switch
• CH and BR main load centers
• Breakers sizes and corresponding wire gauge
• Grounding and bonding
• EV charging installation options
• Solar panel installation options, string inverter and microinverter

Eaton provides product and service solutions for new residential construction for single-family and multi-family homes, as well as upgrades and replacements for existing homes.
