“There is a huge need in shelter, in health. The need for fresh water, for sanitation, and of course removal of debris.”

A UN delegation visited towns in Syria's northwestern Idlib province after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit on Monday evening. Two weeks earlier, the same area was struck by deadly earthquakes that also affected neighbouring Turkey and killed at least 40,000 people.

They came to see what the needs were. The needs as of the moment the earthquake buried people alive was rescue. They needed rescue teams, rescue gear, equipment, back then. Huge credit to the white helmets who did their best with what they had. You can't just show up after dust settles pretending to be a savior.

there should be more people walking delegates like these back to the airport like, "Nah mate, I hope you have your luggage close by. We need to take you back. no, no, seriously. no point in resisting, just go."
