Dear James Young, my dad just walked in while I was listening to this song and just sat beside me without saying a word and he started crying. I've never seen him like that, seems like the lyrics really got him and in that moment, seeing him that vulnerable made me think that it's never too late to get closer to him. You're probably never going to see this but I just wanna say from the bottom of my heart, thank you. ❤️️

Last year on June 25th, at 6:40 in the morning, I watched my father die. His six-year-long battle with cancer finally came to an end.
He was so sick he couldn't talk. He never said goodbye.
My mother fell deep into drug use after he passed. She's been cruel and violent. In many ways I lost both of my parents that day. And I lost a huge part of myself.
As soon as I heard the beginning of this song, it hit me. Your lyrics and music have done so much for me this past year. Thank you Jaymes, for singing so beautifully about such painful things.
You make every day feel a little less tiresome and a little more hopeful.
