Rachel Reeves could be heading for trouble on public spending, after the UK Government's long-term cost of borrowing rose to the highest levels since 1998.

And Sky News can reveal that the chancellor is on course to tighten Whitehall public service budgets further than expected in the spending review because of the worsening economic outlook.

Sky's deputy political editor Sam Coates to explain why this has happened.

Perhaps India, China, Syria, Ukraine, Gaza will start to send the U.K. some cash handouts as emergency financial aid . Our special friends in the USA would have helped but Starmer has burnt that bridge !

because she has realised inflation is going up and growth is down - but the only thing getting bigger, badder and far worse than ever is the junkies or parasites in office who can't seem to run a piss up in a brewery, all the while enjoying pension pots which are above inflation and still growing whilst the value of the pound is lower than ever.

Need to get to the bottom of why so many people of working age are not working in the UK compared with other major economies

So we have declining native birth rates, but increasing spending on working age benefits. So we’re importing people and giving them benefits?

I predict another round of tax hikes, other option is austerity but that punishes labour's vote base so that won't happen.

Since 1997 Government spending has gone from 35% to 45% of GDP, that is the problem we are spending too much

So the cost of borrowing is more now than during Liz Truss's term in office.
Oh dear. How sad, Nevermind.
Labour breaking the economy again. We had a growing economy when the Tories lost.

Let’s imagine what this country will be like by the time Labour are voted out. We will be a third world country.

It sounds like a wild ride for Rachel Reeves with those budget cuts looming! With borrowing costs hitting new highs, it's going to be interesting to see how things unfold in the spending review. Fingers crossed for some creative solutions!

Cut spending and raise taxes again....

Spending will be cut on people who worked all their lives and are now retired.

Taxes will be increased on working people.

Foreign aid and money for illegal arrivals will be protected of course!

This is business economics flogs. The problem is just about the only business experience held by government politicians is running a doggy day care centre and there’s no growth. Where’s the growth??

Go after those people who are fully capable of working but choose to sit on their backside due to laziness!!!! Stop going after people who work hard every day of their life and get little in return!

Step 1: Remove all paid for fine dining at the houses of parliament. With an 80k salary they don't need taxpayer funded free meals.

All she needs to do is block all funding being sent to non-UK government cost centres overseas. So, there is no overseas aid except for disasters and cut the net-zero overseas payments by 75%.
