This is just a quick experiment to see whether you can still germinate seeds cut from a frozen pepper. Here I have an Aji Fantasy pepper that was frozen last year.

WOW. It does actually work !! At first I was hesitant but thought of giving it a try. So I took out a frozen bell pepper from my freezer and separated the seeds. I let them melt and then put them in a damp tissue for 3 weeks. None germinated and I was frustrated. Then I tossed them in a small container and covered them with soil and covered the container with plastic wrap to keep it moist. They did not germinate for the next week or so and then I completely gave up and forgot about them. 2 weeks later I was accidentally walking by the containers and saw like 15 seedling !! Unfortunately some of them did not survive or had already died because I wasn't aware of them and did not take care of them. But after I noticed their germination I started taking care of them and 4 of them have survived and are growing strong and healthy. They were not even in the sun or by the window. I was shocked when I saw the germination. I started other kinds of peppers from seeds I bought online, but I am so happy to also grow these 4 bell pepper plants from frozen seeds! I will save more frozen seeds in future and try to grow them :D :P

I did a science fair project on this as a kid. They actually grow better. Seed banks freeze lots of seeds for emergency situations.

I forgot to save pepper seeds and am using 2018 seeds. Now, after watching this great 👍 video I will get a frozen pepper and use 2019 seeds. Thanks

Do you have to do the napkin thing or can I just put them right into some pot soil?

Wow! That is cool. For how long can you freeze the chili? Or better yet, how long did you freeze it?

I've just burried a load of frozen peppers (cut open) in potting soil and put them in greenhouse as an expieriment, I don't expect much but wanted to see if it works...

I put my formerly frozen seeds directly into the potting soil, bu I think I planted them a bit to deep, they're taking forever to grow!

Gonna try this on my ghost peppers I froze last season. This method has worked for me on all my other fresh seeds so why not try it. Thanks for the info

How long was that chilli frozen for? I didnt realise you could germinate from frozen, I had two plants that got attacked by spider mites during fall, I cut them right back and covered them in diatomaceous earth as a last resort but worried next season they wont be without mites, so I wanted to germinate more plants from the fruits that I froze, the fruits I froze have been in my freezer for about 4months?

I just put some frozen Bell pepper seeds in some moist soil we shall see. Not doing the napkin thing this time just to see what happens

The seeds crack apart when frozen, so they are dead and will no longer grow.
