About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in 1997 and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.

Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

What I like about this new album is that it doesn't sound like a bunch of midle-aged men trying to hard to be young again (as other bands certainly do). The songs are mature and interesting to listen to.

Graham Coxon once said "he was immature blocking himself from everyone before he left the band" and now, during the making of 'The Magic Whip', he metaphorically took the lyrics of Damon Albarn as (in his words): "the love of Damon for train" and "how Damon likes to stare at the window while he's traveling [in trains]" so Coxon didn't want Albarn seeing just a wall of guitars on his trip and broke down all the walls between them [Coxon and Albarn]. That thought makes this song and the whole álbum even more special :')

ok, i'm in love to this song, it's so beautiful <3 you know, what it makes so much much meaning (and why blur is my fav band) is Graham said in one of the magazine :
Damon played it coy on the subject of personal lyrics, insisting that “everything was related to being in that quite claustrophobic island [Hong Kong] with millions and millions of other people”. That may well be true, but the haunting ‘My Terracotta Heart’ is addressed to one of them in particular: “I knew it was going to be an incredibly sad song, which is why I put that crying guitar on there, ” says Coxon. “What I didn’t know at the time was that the lyrics would turn out to be about Damon and I, our long friendship and the ups and downs we’ve had.”
Looking back forlornly to a time when, “We were more like brothers/But that was years ago”, Albarn lays it all out on the lumpen-throated chorus, asking, “Is something broke inside me?/Because at the moment I’m lost and feeling that I don’t know/If I’m losing you again”. “It’s a lovely song, ” says Coxon. “The four of us have kind of met in the middle with this album – we’ve all been of on our own individual journeys, but when we come together and something like ‘My Terracotta Heart’ is the result, that’s a good marriage of all our different tastes and outlooks.”
and if you know their story about their breakup and back together its soooo touching

And the bright rings we got in summertime
Seemed like a breath of fresh air back in the summertime
When we were more like brothers, that was years ago
So if it doesn't sing like a broken chord

I'm running out of heart today
I'm running out of open road to you
When I know you are emoting and you're dazed
Is something broke inside you, cause at the moment
I'm lost and feeling that I don't know
If I'm losing you again

And when we fly tomorrow over the Java seas
And my younger match will be there with me
Cause they remind me of swimming out too far one day
When the coral was gone, but I didn't care anyway

I was running out of heart that day
I was running out of open road to you
And I know I was emoted, I was dazed
Is something broke inside me, cause at the moment
I'm lost and feeling that I don't know
If I'm losing you again

I'm running out of heartache
Just sitting out the constant doubt in my day
But I don't know what it is
I'm sweating out the toxins
Is my terracotta heart breaking? I don't know
If I'm losing you
If I'm losing you again

To bad Damon isn't a musical trend that everyone sees nowadays. This man is a musical genius.

I remember listening to this song in the summer, but it didn't felt like summer because I was locked in my house studying for the maturity exam. This song was incredibly soothing and consoling.

Graham's LOVELY guitar tones and bending highlight the sadness of the song and vocals. VERY cool.
