You're wise for learning that lesson from that encounter. Most people aren't that honest with themselves. Learning the basics of psychology has made a huge difference in my life. It's amazing when you understand more of the how and why of people. I advocate for everyone, including children to learn some easy aspects like cluster B personality disorders, relationship and abuse dynamics, codependency, intergenerational abuse, mood disorders, grooming, conflict resolution, etc. There's actually some decent resources on youtube for this.

I adopted 2 abused children. What I learned--- I was NOT qualified to help them. They were safe loved, cared for, medically treated, in therapy, one is a marine, onr a hair stylist, one an accountant my son is an MMA heavy weight fighter and personal trainer. Be careful who you allow in your life. Some people will sink the entire shop.bevause they cannot be the captain .

You can't help someone that doesn't want to help themselves, i say this from experience, was an addict for many years, tried to get clean several times because other people wanted me too, or i wanted to get better for them, it wasn't until i realized i needed to help myself before anyone else can help me, that i got sober. It's easy to blur the line between helping and enabling, so for anyone struggling with a loved one who can't seem to want help, you can't save someone that doesn't want to be saved .

Everyone thinks this is easy, as you repeat, it is not. I love that you keep on keeping on. Never quit. Most ppl will. I am spiritual as I was raise as a catholic, church, school etc... I was taught then, God is everywhere, he is free, the only giving is to help when you can to whom ever. Don't lie, cheat or steal. Treat all good until they prove this is one-sided. I am alone by choice but not lonely. People, I learned, are mostly about what you can do for them. When one always ends up on the short end of the stick, I am happy with being alone.

I have always wanted to buy a trailer park in the country and have my personal homestead but rent the trailers to single moms who are struggling for a discounted price according to their income. And potentially hold classes on frugality and gardening/homesteading
