Adding Abodes on Amethyst Mountain

One element of the WolfQuest Saga -- the big expansion of the game that will let you continue playing through the life of your family pack -- is the option to play the complete quest cycle on every map.* We've been chipping away at this and so today's devblog takes a look at that effort, particularly the matter of dens. Which parts of the Amethyst map are suitable for dens? Remember that dens must face south (to catch the warmth of the sun in the chilly springtime) and low enough in elevation (to avoid the worst of Yellowstone's mercurial weather).

Unfortunately, that rules out much of the Amethyst map, but there are several zones on the south-facing slopes above Amethyst and Chalcedony creeks which will suffice. And while most wolf dens in the real world are nondescript holes in the ground, we like more variety and interest in our dens in the game, so today's devblog also looks at making one of the new Amethyst dens, under the roots of a fallen tree.

This feature is one of several things that we're working on, along with Lost River DLC map, new AI behaviors for the Saga, and several other things which we plan to roll out in the coming months. We don't yet know when the complete quest cycle on each map will be ready for release, but it is likely to be ready before the full Saga (which isn't coming before 2023), so stay tuned to our devblogs to get the latest updates.

Oooo, I'm so excited for the amethyst mountain dens! That fallen tree is amazing but my gosh, I just got thrown back at least ten years to the pre-slough creek days in old school wolfquest when people used to pretend the fallen trees in the burn were dens 😂 Man, we would've gone wild for this back then. Honestly it's a bit insane to remember the days when this game was free with low quality, now years later seeing this after stopped playing, seeing it now being actually sold for money and the devs constantly making new ways to upgrade the mechanics and expanding and shaping the lands, it's really heart warming. YES I'M SOOOO EXCITED FOR FULL SEASONS IN ALL MAPS! I'm so glad we'll get to do the full game on both free maps sooner without having to wait for the full saga. Does that mean we'll also get autumnal Slough Creek and be able to start the game there before the saga?
Also, a lot of packs have used a rendezvous near the Chalcedony Creek, as frequently mentioned in Rick McIntyre's books. I'd love to see one near there as a nod to it if you guys cant put it in the place it really is!

I played WolfQuest when I was a teenager, back when it was new...I never played any of the DLC...I recently purchased Anniversary Edition on Steam, and I am SO happy with what I've experienced so far <3

there's so much that goes into this game making things as realistic as possible and i love it. most devs would just say screw it in order to just streamline getting the update out, but the fact that y'all are taking the time to say 'we've came this far making things true to life, we're not gonna stop trying just because it's hard' and that's so awesome!!! cannot wait for this huge update, seeing stuff like this makes it so much more exciting.
