Took a stroll through my 5th edition Necrons codex and found a bunch of cool Tomb Worlds

The war in heaven was getting desperate on both sides at many points so a few dangerous AI were probably necessary during the war in heaven. But a smart AI wouldn't pick a fight with the C'tan and probably the old ones so they didn't bother. Have they ran into the Silent King? I really want him to reveal that he didn't sever the command protocols for the AI and he's about to take control of a very big army.

I really like how they retconed the necrons but still kept in pieces of their old lore with the severed. If I ever start collecting necrons I'm definitely painting them as a severed army

I feel like some day there might be a story of different factions like the Imperium, Tau, and maybe even Necrons teaming up to fight them because of how dangerous the thing has become.

Woah, it's like a darker version of Ultramar being the center of Imperium Secundus or the Farsight Enclave within the Tau empire. Run by a master control AI that's basically the thing that the Mechanicus fears the most, an actual Abominable Intelligence. I figured there was some sort of AI-dominated realm within the galaxy. I definitely didn't think it was going to be in the Necrons' own backyard. And for sure not a Machine Spirit which aren't even full AI but something like a consciousness that builds over time and usage. And the Imperium mostly only has them because the Mechanicus/Mechanicum believe in them so deeply and spread that belief throughout the Imperium where even common citizens have to pray so their vehicles can work well and soldiers pray for their weapons to fire accurately. So imagining the Necrons having them is Definitely a new one for me 🤔.

I like that, like the Orks, the Necrons are held back by infighting from groups like this. They could both steamroll the galaxy if united but then you have some weird subfaction(s) messing up the inside of the boundaries of your empire that needs resolving
