Speaking during a joint press conference with Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo on Monday, U.S. Vice-President Kamala Harris reiterated the importance of standing up for LGBTQ+ rights as Ghana has seen an increase in proposed and passed anti-LGBTQ+ legislation.

"This is an issue that we consider, and I consider, to be a human rights issue. And that will not change," Harris said.

Plus, Harris was also asked about China's influence in African countries. She said her trip to Ghana and other countries in Africa is motivated by the importance of the direct relationship between the U.S. and Ghana. While she did not speak on China directly, she said the U.S. and the Biden-Harris Administration are committed to strengthening ties with Ghana.

The vice-president met with leaders and staff before sitting down with Akufo-Addo for a bilateral meeting. The White House said the aim of the meetings is to affirm the strength of the U.S.-Ghana bilateral relationship and the long-standing ties between the American and Ghanaian people.

Nothing that comes from the European mind has ever been in the best interest of any African.

The massive amounts of celebrating that will occur when she leaves the continent will be epic. Everyone's IQ will improve the moment she leaves.

Ghana will not fall to the West's immorality and sickness. Africa is united against your so called woke disease. we are all in unison on the matter of upholding our strong traditions and our religious convictions will not waver. Ghana stay strong. no kamala, we've seen what you're selling and we don't want any parts of your degenerate culture polluting our society. we will stick to our traditional values, which are upheld by our strong Christian faith. Africa stay strong!! we will resist. however, this is not a dig at traditional Americans.

How can I vote for a Democrat if they're going to keep giving money to other countries instead of helping the homeless and the poor here in America

Ghana and Africa needs to be careful and needs to protect itself more and more now going forward because America and western countries going to start bullying Africa to do what they want by agreeing to the LGBTQ. Africa doesn’t need to agree to anything it doesn’t want to! Every continent has its own way of life and rules. And America and the west (if they are decent) should honor that and RESPECT that. It’s not in the wests best interest to use force.

That's the difference there between China and the USA. While China discusses economic growth and cooperation as their foreign policy with the African continent, USA only lectures the continent on Sexual and moral perversion in the name of human rights.
As a Ghanaian, I can assure Kamala that the alphabet movement SHALL not see the light of day in Ghana. We are sick and tired of those Neocons and Neolibs tryna dictate to us what we should do. We choose to side with China and Russia.

This “human rights issue” is the ONLY issue for this administration. This issue is more important and pressing than the national security threat embodied by China. God help us.

Are you going invade Ghana and loot the gold that has been found. Leave Ghana alone.

Most schools in Ghana are in dilapidated structures, more are under shades of trees.
H E Kamala, there are a lot of communities in Ghana that do not have continuous supply of portable drinking water, more do not have access to drinking water which you're aware of.
Are these issues not human rights enough to be championed by you and the rest?

When will they introduce credit system in Ghana other than this so-called "human rights" issues? It's really sickening to ponder this when many people are suffering to make ends meet in this country and continent. We wish for very important matter to be pushed other than this one

She was up in her emotions and should never have discussed that issue, what she is failing to see that her trip is only garnering hatred because the interpretation of the layman is that he must be gay.

She should exemplify her position by changing from marriage to practicing LGBT Values then we will know she really means what she says and loves it wholeheartedly. Maybe she can get more attention then. There is no need to force that on Other people who have different preference. There are many problems Africa needs to deal with as a matter of urgency than sexual preferences or persuasions.
